Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Something New

Mom has finished writing nine stories for her 12×12 challenge.  She is ready to start something new.  That’s always fun.  Something new for a writer is exciting because they get to start with a clean page and have millions and millions of possibilities in front of them, just ripe for the picking (like when somebody spills a whole bag of popcorn in the field where I walk).  One of those possibilities might be The Idea that leads to THE ONE.

For Mom THE ONE means the elusive Book #2. She will look at the list of ideas in her phone for a long time.  She will probably mumble to herself for a while.  When she starts typing, she will stall around, looking for just the right names for her characters.  She’ll look in her phone at her list of names, and maybe look online at a name-your-baby website (or a name-your-puppy website if it’s a dog story – which I hope it is).  From start to finish, she’ll mind write a lot, talk to herself a lot, type on the computer, and drink coffee (that’s my favorite part).

Yesterday, I did something new, too.  If I were a writer, this might become my Favorite Idea for MY elusive Book #2.

  1. Oh Cupcake yoz is sooo funny it that swing BOL.. Yor sweet little face 🙂 I’s got a good name for a character in a book..wot about MOLLIE heeeehawwwwheeee xx

    • Mom thinks Mollie is a GREAT name for a character. Maybe your name will bring better publishing luck than my name! That would be awesome. Even if she uses your name, I’d still be able to go with her on author visits. FUN!

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Yeah..,Yoz could use that photo of you in the swing Cupcake…that’s sooo funny 🙂 xxx Peee-esss…Let us nose when the bboks done, cos we will want a copy 🙂 xx

      • Thanks, Mollie. Mom has sent a funny photie of me. It was a hard choice, but she went with my raincoat picture. Sorry I didn’t smile, but I’m usually paralyzed with fear in that thing.

        Love and licks,
        C

  2. you trink coffee (or tea?) too and you like sitting in a swing – I think that’s stuff for the next book…

    • Coffee is my drink of choice, and by drink, I mean I’m only allowed to lick the empty cup, so I don’t actually drink any, but yum! Even the smell is delicious.

      Love and licks,
      C

  3. You really have your mug shoved in that mug! Yum. As far as mom’s elusive book #2, the right people just haven’t seen it yet. :-D. Swing on!

  4. Gosh, Cupcake! How did you get so cute? 🙂 I can’t imagine why your mom doesn’t have a whole series of books about you!

  5. I love the swing! Do they make them in bigger sizes Cupcake? I don’t think I would fit in that one! 🙂

    • I don’t think one of your paws would fit into that baby swing, Bassa! You may need to use the big kids’ swings, but hold on tightly – they don’t have safety seats!

      Love and licks,
      C

  6. Hehehe! Cupcake, you look like you are very much enjoying swinging in that baby swing. Was it fun?

    Piggy kisses,
    Poppy

That video is hilarious! It remains to be seen whether my Ridgeback would be so amenable!

  8. That looks like soooo much fun Cupcake!

  9. You do look cute in the swing! I don’t think I’d fit in it.

  10. Absolutely loved it!!!! Great post and seeing you Cupcake… it fantastic! 🙂 Best wishes to your mom on her book!!!

  11. Aww, Cupcake, you’re looking so cute on the swing 🙂

  12. That swing looks scary! Whee like Mummy writing stories about us too.

When Mummy needs ideas for a piggy story she plays with us. If she needs ideas for a boring ole’ hooman one she goes for a walk and listens in to peoples comversations. Whee think that is just her excuse for being nosey!

ps. Congrats for winning our wet pet pigture contest, it was your expression that did it!

    • I notice Mom being nosey, too! Maybe it’s a mom thing, or just a writer thing…. Either way, it’s unnecessary. Pet stories are the best!

I am so honored that my dumb-looking face won your Wet Pet Contest. It’s because Mom puts conditioner on me and then makes me stand there for 5 whole minutes while my fur gets soft and sweet-smelling.

  13. Hay, Cupcake..Mommy made me some of yor frozen treat’s..Yum Yum 🙂 I’s gotta try and get some of those little paper pots 🙂 Have a great day xx

  14. Hey cupcake, I have something for you on my bloggy: http://wp.me/p2h87n-fD 🙂
