Walking

Walking is a good way for Mom to tidy up her head and make room for ideas.

lightbulbThere are always interesting things to investigate on a walk. We walk at lots of different parks,

verona-stump

and also the reservoir,

the 9/11 memorial,

and the playing field.

Other times we walk right in our neighborhood. Either way, walking is fun.
Mom likes it for the pretty flowers,
rosecrazy leaves, fresh air,
The fresh air is blowing my ear upside down!

and exercise.
Sort of....

Sort of….

The change of scenery helps Mom hear what her characters are trying to tell her, see where her story is going, and figure out what might happen when she asks herself, “What if….”
I like it for the leftovers that somebody forgot in the parking lot,
Don't eat it.

It’s called a doggie bag for a reason.

the acorns,
Unless you're a pig or a donkey, those are not food.

Unless I’m a pig or a donkey, acorns are apparently “not food.”

the candy papers,

Halloween is not over...

the lost glove,

Somebody will be looking for this when it gets cold...

the mud puddle,
The mud puddle leads directly to the bathtub.

Stepping in the mud leads directly to the bathtub.

and the delicious poison that the lawn guys left for me.
The poison leads directly to the vet...

The poison leads directly to the vet…

Here’s hoping our walks lead directly to Book #2. Or indirectly to Book #2. Or to eBook #2. Or to McDonald’s for an ice cream cone.

  1. I wonder what story your mom would write if she could see the things around her like a dog…. I bet at the end we had something tasty but hard to understand…:o) btw: a guy from germany once wrote a story about a lost glove and he became super famous… his name was schiller… maybe it’s worth a try to write a (G)love-story?

    • G-love story! Awesome! Sometimes I think for a doggie, you are the smartest human I know, E. I’ll save that idea for Mom. That glove certainly looked like there was a story behind it…

      Love and licks,
      C

  2. First book #2, then E-book #2, then Micky D’s. But not Sour Patch candy. Walk AWAY from the sour patch!! That’s worse than poison! You want to clear your head? Walk purposefully in the direction of Swedish Fish!! 🐶❤️ 😉

    • Thanks for the warning, G. Just the name of the SourPatch sounded dangerous. SwedishFish sounds more pleasant. Plus, Mom gave me a piece of her TunaFish yesterday, and I liked it a lot, so….. yeah. There’s that…

      Love and licks,
      C

  3. You Lucky Dog !! You have such a nice Mommy !! And the Ice-Cream part is the Best.

  4. What an adventure!

  5. Walks are great for clearing our heads AND for leading to ideas and/or mud puddles and street naps! You seem to find the best stuff when you’re out there – maybe both you AND your Mom get inspired by fresh air?

    Love, Sammy

    • I agree, S. I think I am at my best on a walk. Mom calls it, “You don’t miss a trick.” She’s right! I can spot a hunk of bread left out for the birds from half a mile away. Sometimes sloppy people even leave me a coffe cup lid to taste…

      Love and licks,
      C

  6. Cupcake, I made a pic of you and me, Kissy Kissy.
    See it here. https://cattieweb.wordpress.com/cattie-kisses-cupcake/
I tried inserting the image here but could not, since it is form my pc.

  7. Hi Cupcake. yes I too get taken out for a walk for my Mom to clear her head or even stressed, but this also will include ‘normal’ walks. Woof-woof from Benji

    • That’s great, B. I hope you get to find many yummy and fascinating things in your new neighborhood. Also, if your mom isn’t watching you like a hawk, maybe you can taste some of them…

      Love and licks,
      C

  8. We like to sniff the litter too!

  9. It leads to mystery and intrigue, sometimes Momwithoutpaws talks to herself. Now I am hungry for ice cream

  10. Chili & I loves walks, too. Clears our heads, helps our hearts, and sometimes there are tasty treats, too.

  11. Charley and I agree whole heartily…walking is the best thing there is!!! And lucky you getting an ice cream, Charley gave me the stink eye when she saw that. But she lets you know, she never steps in the mud. This dainty Princess likes to keep clean and smelling of roses at all times. How undoglike! xo Johanna

    • Thanks, J. Charley is a neat little girl. No mud equals no baths. Smart! She certainly deserves an ice cream.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Allas, Charley needs a bath every two weeks for a skin condition she has…she loves the warm water but really dislikes the hairdryer! She makes more noise than the hairdryer!!!

  12. Lucky you getting an ice cream at McD. I’ve never had one, but now I’m going to insist to go along. McD used to give dog biscuits at the drive-thru but no more Grrrrr . Lady Caroline

    • Thanks, Lady C. Once Mom took me to the McDonald’s drive through and instead of handing out an ice cream cone, we got a SALAD! I stared at Mom and waited for her to correct the mistake. But she didn’t! She WANTED the salad…. Ugh.

      Love and licks,
      C

  13. You have amazing walks, Cupcake! Mom never really lets me out of the truck/car to walk around when we are in town. Although, I take FULL advantage to gather all the news I can when I get the chance…Tractor Supply and the VETS!!!
    Boomer
    Linda

    • Well done, B. You’ve gotta get the news while the gettin’ is good. One thing about farm life is no leash. Mom keeps me close so I don’t pick up anything delicious from the ground.

      Love and licks,
      C

  14. Cupcake, walking is good for us all. You’ve done a lot of walking, so enjoy your cone while Mom thinks about the next books…what if’s. Indy agrees with me too. Happy walking. 👍

You are SOOOOO correct, Cupcake… Walkies are Wonderful thingys.

  16. Sounds like you are having some great walks, Cupcake. Hope it gets some good ideas for Mom’s writing. Have a great day.

  17. Walking seems to clean the cobwebs out of all our heads. So when in doubt, go for a refreshing walk in -3C weather. You will be super refreshed.

    Shoko

    • Definitely, S. But -3C is COLD! I’m pretty sure Mom would stay inside and talk to herself in that weather.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • We are not used to this weather so we have to get climatized again. Kali is digging her way under the afghan and mom is wondering where she stuck the long underwear. Dad and I are just right.

  18. Cupcake, I’m glad you figured out the magic portal to the bath. And I see you are still napping in the street, in spite of Lexi’s strong warnings! Glad you and your Mom are still walking as the temps cool down. 🙂

  19. OMD, I loves puttin’ my head in bags! You never knows what kind of treasures you’re gonna find! I once found a whole cheesyburger! Ma wasn’t happy, butts….SCORE! hehehe
Oh, and good call avoidin’ the mud….peeps like to wash that off for some reason…??
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

    • So true, R. I just had a bath last week, so I am NOT looking to get muddy and end up back in the torture chamber (bathtub) again! I agree about bags. Once I found a back of gum. I was not allowed to eat it, but….Yay, anyway!

      Love and licks,
      C

  20. Wherever they lead, you are always on an adventure.

  21. All that walking is good for you and your Mom! I need to get out and walk. My walking would always lead straight to FOOD I am sure.

  22. Look likes every walk leads to an adventure, Cupcake, and I think the mice-cream is the best…MOL 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Walk 🙂 ❤

  23. It’s amazing how many tasty things us humans leave for you dogs to find on your walks!

  24. Walking…good for the soul, good for the hips. 😉

  25. I think your Mom should write a walk story I loved this post 🙂

  26. I like walking too which I don’t do much lately since changing jobs.

Cupcake, I hate to keep meowing the same thing BUT mom always says while we are reading your thoughts here, that you start her day (and mine too) with the biggest smile! I know…same thing but the reason why is that is is sincere.

Mom would love to walk along of only she could. She walks every day too, but to get fit. She said it would be fun to see things from your prospective. Her friend Ringo at the park is fun to walk with when he and his dad are there.

If your mom has any books that she has created that we can read, she and I, that she can point us to, we would be very grateful. xoxo

Mrs. P is RIGHT! I just read her comment. A walk story and Mrs P is also correct in that she and I and everyone else loved this story today and your pictures.

  29. Great post, Cupcake! 😀

  30. hello cupcake its dennis the vizsla dog hay i like yore leaf hat in yore noo pikcher!!! stay away frum that poison tho i hav herd bad things abowt poison!!! ok bye

  31. I’m with Mom, the walking really helps me!! Some of my best plots come from the walks. There is something about wandering that really lets the imagination loose.

  32. Ah, what a lovely post. And what a lovely doggy!
