Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Five Word Friday

Today we’re celebrating five words from Mom’s June story. Truth be told, the story isn’t finished yet, but we grabbed five words anyway. We’re sure it’ll be finished in six more days… Wait. What? SIX MORE DAYS??!!?? Blerg.

16. Turkeys – My turkey toy is one of my favorite shaking toys. When I get it going just right, the turkey kicks me in the head over and over. *sigh* Good times

72. Blankets – I love blankets. Whether I am on them, in them, under them, or near them, they make me happy.

Mom is happy when she is on the ball, in the zone, under a deadline, or near the surprise ending. She’s all of those things right about now.

4. Music – Mom taught me to dance so I could make people laugh when we go to work at the VA and the library. I don’t even need music! Just chicken…

88. Storybooks – Writing storybooks is Mom’s favorite hobby. She always wishes she can get another book or eBook published. But no matter what happens, she writes them anyway. She can’t help it. When I do therapy work at the library, kids read storybooks to me.

Even if the books are about cats, I listen politely to them anyway.

649. Selfie – Last week was National Selfie Day. Taking a selfie is tough for me because… well… paws. Thank goodness Mom helps me so I can be like the cool kids.

  1. blankets are good… they belong to us… apart from wet blankets, that’s the stuff we avoid

  2. You are just so adorable C! Mom and I love looking at the beautiful photos and that selfie is so great! 😀

That turkey toy is just like my Mr Greenie. hahaha. They do love to kick us, don’t they?

You look so comfortable under your blankie and you are such a great dancer as well. You look so cute reading your book. 😀

Keep rocking Cupcake. You and your Mom must have a great day!
Lots of wet kisses and hugs. 😘😘😘💕💕💕

    • Thanks, R. I shiver a lot and feel chilly a lot, so blankets became my friends early on when Mom adopted me from the rescue. Sweaters, too! I like to be cozy. I also like to dance for chicken. At our therapy work, everybody makes a big fuss about my dancing. Being fussed over is always fun. I’m sure you know what I mean, R….

      Love and licks,

      • I can only imagine C. I have long hair, so I don’t get cold. You are so cute with your dresses and sweaters. I don’t have to wear anything like that because it’s so hot here.

I would also make a fuss about your dancing because you are quite the ballerina. So beautiful. Being fussed about is fun for sure. 😀

  3. Cupcake you always take the bestest photos…..and that last one of you looking at the camera – well – it’s BEYOND adorable dear friend. I bet the kids really love reading to you. You’re such a good pal to all of them. We sure hope your Mom’s story is a big hit and gets published – then BOTH of you can do a “happy dance” together!

    Hugs, Teddy

  4. It’s very sweet of you to listen to the children reading you stories. I imagine it does wonders for their confidence.

    • Thanks, C. Yes! When kids read to me, I don’t correct them or make fun if they make a mistake. I just watch and listen and sometimes I lick their face. Or their feet. Or the book.

      Love and licks,

  5. Mom sure has some terrific words in her latest story, Cupcake. But be careful with that turkey toy – don’t let it hurt that pretty head of yours.

    • Thanks for the heads up, P. (See what I did there?) The turkey is soft, so I’m good. Mom has stopped buying me electronic toys. She was afraid the battery pack would crack my tiny skull open when I shook them.

      Love and licks,

Cupcake…good news your mom is in the zone. I haven’t heard her say that for awhile now. and I’m bustin for everything to go just right and another success on our way to read! XXX

  7. great choices

  8. LOL… the picture I have in my head with those skinny turkey legs in motion kicking your little head, Cupcake! You know I love my blankie but it has been too dang hot and the blankie has been neglected. I am glad your Mom is HAPPY and on the ball. Dancing Cupcake this morning… smile worthy!

    • Thanks, Pix! I LOVE being smile worthy. It’s my favorite worthy! The turkey toy has big soft turkey feet and no batteries. He will not hurt my tiny bony skull.

      Love and licks,

  9. A good cat-story is never wasted, right Cupcake…MOL 😀 Now let’s do the Happy Dance together and show the turkey who’s kicking now😹😸Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead🐾😽💞

    • Thanks, Little B. Whenever I hear a cat story, I think about all my good, sweet kitty friends. That helps me not to be afraid.

      Love and licks,

  10. Aww Cupcake, we love your ‘selfie’ and blankie pics. Enjoy dancing for chicken; we got our mom trained to dispense whenever we look sufficiently pathetic-she can’t bear that and feels sorry for us. SCORE! Good luck to you mom finishing up her stories this month.
    Your fur-iends,
    Sam & Elsa 🐾

    • Thanks, S and E. Well done! The pathetic begging face is a sure winner! Plus it’s easier than learning to dance. I need to work on that…

      Love and licks,

  11. I think “blankets” is a favorite in my house. All the cats love blankets.

    • Kitties and shivery little doggies all need blankets. And sweaters. Well, maybe skip the sweaters for the kitties…

      Love and licks,

  12. Look at you dance! Dance away the days and sleep in toasty blankie the rest of the time. Boomer

Blankets to snuggle under or on are very nice. Turkey toys that play with you are super fun. A mom who helps you take selfies so you can be a cool kid (although I gotta tell you we think you are a very cool kid just by being you.) And last but not least letting kids read to you, even the kitty books, is the best thing ever! ~ nose nudges Belle Pup for the pups and kitties

    • Thanks, B. It sounds like I have it all. Most times it feels like that, too. Except those days when Mom says I’m on treat restriction so I don’t turn into a fat dog with a tiny head….

      Love and licks,

  14. We love seeing you dance, C. We think you must be very good at it. No one reads to us. We’ve gotta ask Mom about that… xox Xena and Lucy

  15. Fun to watch you play with blankets. Archie liked to be on top of them, but didn’t play with them. By the way, we moved and had to give Archie to a friend he adores. So hard to do. But, my friend send me pictures of him following her father around the yard and house, like best buddies. Makes it easier. Would love to see him, but don’t want to confuse him. He is adjusting so well.

    • We have no doubt that you did the best thing for my buddy, Archie, P. It’s great that you can see him living in peace and happiness in his new home. And that he has so many people to love him close up and from a distance. Mom and I wish you good luck and much happiness in YOUR new home. Moving is fun and exciting – for doggies and for humans!

      Love and licks,

  16. One can never have too many blankets sweet Cupcake. We love all these photos they are sweet and so are you. Hugs and nose kisses

  17. Turkey legs in the head?!?!? Whoa girl! Settle down! 😂
    Mom’s second book?!? I’m waaaaaiiitttinnnngggg… tick tock ⏰ (see the time?)😉

    • Ugh. The time got changed on WP. 😡

    • As long as the turkey feet are softies, I’m good. Mom won’t buy me any more battery toys because of possible battery-pack-concussion. We checked emojis to see the time. WordPress stinks. 10:10 is the luckiest time!!

      Love and licks,

  18. You are THAT cute right early in the morning???? OMD!!!!!

I love my blanket! I don’t understand why my humans insist on throwing it in the washing machine every once in a while, especially when it starts to smell really great!
My ghostwriter loves to write stories too, and tell them. (I hear she tells all kinds of stories about me when she’s at work.) She likes to listen to music too, but I’m not about to learn how to dance.

  20. Lulu: “Hey, Cupcake, we like lots of the same things! Maybe we’re long-lost relatives!”
Charlee: “Of course you are, Lulu. You’re both dogs.”
    Lulu: “Oh, right.”
Chaplin: “Hey what do you mean you listen to the stories even IF they are about cats? Those should be the best ones. In fact I think they should all be about cats!”

  21. Come to bring Pawkisses for a Happy Independence Day to you and your mom🐾😽💞

  22. Blankets are kitty cozy. I do love them things. The Lane doesn’t supply blankets so I was so happy when I got my own.

Those are very good words. We have a turkey toy that Pierre loves to fetch. Blankets are the best! I love that you can dance and entertain people with your moves. XXOO
