Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Happy Ending

Mom loves a happy ending. When she writes a story, she makes sure there’s a problem, and then her characters try to solve it, but they always face obstacles trying to get it done. Mom struggles with the conflict in her stories. She says, “I don’t like trouble.” and “Why can’t things just go smoothly?” and “GET DOWN!!”

I LOVE trouble. Sometimes I surf the top of the piano to see if there’s anything for me to play with or eat. Mom said, “You’re going to get a spankin’!” I thought she said, “You’re going to get some bacon.” I ran into the kitchen so fast, I crashed into the cabinet. No bacon. Why does life have to be so difficult?

At the end of Mom’s stories, the conflict is gone, the obstacles are overcome, and the problems are solved. I love a happy ending.

  1. You’ve been a naughty dog aye Cupcake!

  2. Oh I laughed through this 😀 Thanks for that. Sorry you didn’t get any bacon 🙂 but I’m glad there’s always a happy ending. Just the way I like it.

  3. Too bad there wasn’t any bacon for you, Cupcake, but happy endings make everything allright again… except of the bacon of course 🙂

  4. So funny Cupcake, you are obsessed with Bacon, Bawaaahhaaaw Have a wonderful day, xx00xxx

    Mollie and Alfie

  5. You look sweet climbing up on the piano, but I don’t think you’ll find bacon there!

    • You were right, Clowie. Nothing to eat on top of the piano. Sometimes, I knock some or the pictures over, but the noise scares me, so it’s not as much fun as it seems.

      Love and licks,
      C

  6. Cupcake you remind us of our Oscar … TROUBLE xx

  7. Hi Cupcake! Well, I too love a happy ending……and in that picture of you all curled up on the bed I’d say you not only have a HAPPY “ending” but it looks as nice and warm and cuddly as the REST of you! (tee hee) BACON???? Did someone say BACON?????

    Kitty hugs, Sammy

  8. Poor you… No bacon… Just some spankin’ 😉

  9. I like happy endings too – I think you should get some bacon – or it would be a story without happy end ;o)

  10. So she promised (which is the exact same as you mishearing) bacon, but then didn’t deliver? I would have a word with your mum !!

  11. Oh noes Cuppycake, I think you should have got some bacon for getting down from the piano

  12. That sure is the best kind of ending. And if you want a partner in crime, you know where to look 🙂

    Oink oink,
Katie and Coccolino the mini pig

  13. We are (on the whole) a culture that loves happy endings. Just look at our Hollywood movies. 🙂

  14. You are SO FUNNY, Cupcake! 🙂 And let’s be honest… a happy ending with bacon is better than a happy ending without it 🙂

  15. Your mom sounds like me a little bit Cupcake – always telling Shiner to get down.

  16. I hope the end of each and every day is another happy ending for you, Cupcake 🙂 With actual bacon, of course!

  17. Cupcake you have been taking lessons from Linus. One day I put out some hamburger meat to cook supper and then the door bell rang. After being gone 30 seconds and coming back to the kitchen–there was a dog licking his chops and no HAMBURGER meat to be found!

  18. How about a story where a dog (wonder who…) learns to play the piano!

    • I love that idea, Will and Eko! Whenever Mom puts my paws on the piano keys, the music scares me a little. So I’m not sure the story would have a happy ending…..

      Love and licks,
      C

  19. Oh Cupcake you are getting very crafty! Next thing she’s going to turn around and see you playing the piano!

  20. Okay, I’ve had my chuckle for the day! This was sooo cute.

  21. I love happy endings, too, Cupcake. and bacon – might be giving me a dinner idea…

  22. Spanking? Bacon? Hysterical!
Bacon would have been a happy ending.

  23. Cupcake, you are so darn cute, I wouldn’t forbid you to do anything at our house!

  24. I wondered why your were acting cagey… 😆

  25. Cupcake!!! I never imagined you’d have a cheeky puppy bone in your precious little body. I’m happy to be proven wrong – that’s some adventure you went on there 🙂 xx

    • I am a TINY bit cheeky, but mostly, I am a good girl. Once I found Mom’s eyeglasses on the piano, and I brought them on the sofa and tried to hatch them like an egg. She wasn’t happy because the heat from my belly made them bend a little.

      Love and licks,
      C
