This month, Mom is challenging herself to get a story ready to submit somewhere. Our five words are from one of the stories that made the cut as a possibility.
Cloud – When clouds come and cover the sun, they interfere with my street naps.
Mom is always happy when the sun goes behind a cloud because then I get up and start walking. When the sun comes back, I hit the deck again.
Garden – Mom has a whole garden of stories and poems inside her computer. The challenge is to sort through them and pick a good one. Sometimes in a garden, the flowers die off. That happens with stories, too. Mom doesn’t want to submit a dud.

No duds here…
Popped – Last week, I had surgery to remove a bump from my chest. I had a bunch of staples in there to hold the cut together. The vet told Mom not to let me jump around. Mom and I both knew that was just crazy talk. As soon as I got home, I popped up onto the chair and have popped up and down all over the place ever since.
Mom did waste spend $70 on a ramp, but I only use it when she tells me to.
Puddles – I like puddles. Even though I dread bath day – leaving drippy, soapy, sloppy puddles everywhere almost makes it worth the torture.
Sky – Since we live on top of a hill, we look at the sky a lot. I mostly look for sunshine. Mom sees planets, stars, sunrises,
storms,
rainbows,
and sometimes, planets and the space station. Plus we always need a reminder about where we should be reaching.

I’d like to like your post but WordPress doesn’t seem to like us.
Blerg! Sometimes WordPress has a “mind” of its own. Thanks for dropping by! xo
Love and licks,
C
oh cupcake we know such gardens… ours ist full with stories, but there is a lot of weed between all that flowers… and without green thumbs the mama sometimes confuses a flower with weed and the wrong one is gone or still with us… we are glat da surgery went well and we hope it heals up mighty fine and super fast
Thanks, boys. I am healing up great. And weeds?? Oh yeah. Plenty of weeds around here!
Love and licks,
C
Oh dear Cupcake…..I’m sorry you had to have some surgery but I do hope that you are FINE and the lump was not a serious lump! Nice of your Mom to get you a ramp. Mom bought me some stairs to use to get up to the sink for my drinks but I don’t like going DOWN them. Up is fine but Mom has to help me on the DOWN part. We do need our Moms don’t we! Sending you hugs for healing and hugs – well – JUST BECAUSE!
Love, Teddy
Thanks, T. My bump was just a bump. The pathology came back fine – benign with no chance of recurrence. I agree with you – Moms do come in handy when we get stuck someplace.
Love and licks,
C
Second picture… those ears!!! I love looking at the sky, clouds and stars… there are always things to ooh and awe over! Venus has been very ooh and awe worthy. Yes Cupcake, reach for the sky!
We are always reaching, Pix. Around here, we see Mars really clearly at night. Mom has an app called Star Walk 2 that shows us where everything is up there. So fun.
Love and licks,
C
Thank you for the app… I will be checking it out, Cupcake 🙂
Cupcake, I was so glad your surgery was uneventful for you and your mom. My mom bought me stairs which I am not using. They need to be taller to help me to the desk and other places. These foam stairs were too expensive with just three steps. Imagine a taller one. XX
Thanks, KI. I have heard many stair failure stories. Mom decided on the ramp thinking we’d use it to get into and out of the car, too. HaHaHaHaHa. Plus it doesn’t fit in the door.
Love and licks,
C
Those street naps are of the highest quality, Cupcake, you sure know when to take them😸Granny’s doggie did exactly the same after her churgury, running and jumping all over the place, I think I know how your mom felt🙈Loved the pictures! Pawkisses for a Happy Tuesday🐾😽💞
Thanks, Little B. I think we doggies know what to do. If we need to jump up, jump down, or roll over, we just go for it.
Love and licks,
C
We like your ramp, Cupcake and think you should use it-you’d hate to go back to the dreaded vet place for a restitch. Here’s hoping your mom finds the ‘pawfect’ story-if you’re in it, it will be. Just saying.
Your fur-iends,
Norman & Elsa 🐾
Thanks N and E. My staples are out and I am healing up fine. I think a lot of jumping, running, and sliding was just what I needed to heal up. And although Mom predicted that I’d give her 6 heart attacks and 4 strokes, she’s fine, too.
Love and licks,
C
Whew…glad everyone survived! Still, it’s good to let the huMom pamper the doggie soul.
Hey, Cupcake!!! Are you okay? Being sick is NOT fun. Although, you do look like fun in your yellow hat. Boomer
I’m good, B. Healing up great! And my furs are even growing back as soft as ever. I hope you are doing better, too. It’s lucky we’re a couple of tough cookies with moms who always believe the best for us. Hang in there, buddy.
Lots of love and licks,
C
Good to learn this, Cupcake. We have to stay strong for our Moms. They need us! Boomer
I think we like all the same things you like, Cupcake. I don’t quite think I’d lie down on the street, though. Oh, and what kind of squeaky toy is that on your head in the first picture? The shiny yellow one. I’ve never seen one like that before! Does it have a squeaker???
LOL, C. No squeaker in my Bob the Builder hat. Mom carefully balances it on my head a few times a year for one reason or another and then she puts it away. I do like squeaky toys, though!
Love and licks,
C
I can’t even imaging mom submitting a dud and I just don’t know what’s wrong with these Book 2 people!
Clouds are cool.
Gardens are colorful and smell good but
Rainbows are the best.
Storms? Double-edged sword. Scary but fascinating.
❤️Hugs❤️
Thanks, G. We are hoping of all her choices, she doesn’t accidentally choose a dud. Of course, I’d pick a doggie story. Those are paws-down ALWAYS the best ones.
Love and licks,
C
Xena: C, you always worried Angel Lexi when she saw you street-napping, but we aren’t going to worry. You seems to know what you are doing.
Lucy: Xena, stop giggling behind your paw.
Thanks, X. I do know what I’m doing street nap wise. Plus Mom watches out for cars and drags me out of the way, or threatens me till I get up and start moving again. People sometimes stop their cars and ask if I’m OK. Mom tells them yes and that my only problem is I am stubborn.
Love and licks,
C
Cupcake are you sure your’re not part cat, I mean the way you like street naps in the sun and all? Tell your mom good luck with her story, we know she’ll come up with something great. We are awfully happy rhat your chest bump isn’t anything to worry about. ~Linus and Lucy Kitties Bonnie, Belle, Bessie, and Bea Pups
Thanks, L, L, B, B, B, and B. My bump scar is healing up nicely and my furs are even growing back. Once in a while, Mom does say I have some kitten-like qualities. Other times, I am more of a Mack truck.
Love and licks,
C
Kitten or Mack truck like we are so glad you are ok.💕
Oh, I am so glads you are okays my furiend! I gots lots of lumps and bumps and am glads yours are benign too! I got a ramp too, butts It’s a challenge to gets me to use it, butts Ma says it’s gonna be a must, cause gettin’ my (almost) 12yr old bones, and 60lb arse into my truck is gettin’ more difficult. and I really don’t likes the Moms to pick me up ☺
She hopes I will cooperate soon BOL!
You and your MOms have a most FABulous week my furiend! And loooooved the pics!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Thanks, R. Your 12 year old bones are catching up to my 13 year old bones. I will actually be 14 this month. Mom says 14 is the new 8, so I am fine with that. I guess that makes 12 the new 6. Numbers are not our friends, so now I gave myself a headache by doing math.
Love and licks,
C
Lulu: “What else is there to do when the sun comes out but roll over and let it warm up your belly? It’s good for the digestion!”
That is the truth, Lu. I like having a warm belly and warm paws. Mom says she is probably the only person in NJ who can’t wait for winter so we can walk nicely without her standing in the middle of the street like a jackass watching for cars not to run me over.
Love and licks,
C
Your fur-riends wish all the best to you!
Thanks, N. I love the “best” wishes!
Love and licks,
C
That is very funny that you get up and down on your walks according to the sunbeams. BOL!! Your photos are lovely.
Thanks, MK. Mom doesn’t care what gets me up, as long as I get up. Sometimes she thinks we will NEVER get back home.
Love and licks,
C
Wonderful post Cupcake! Looking wonderful as ever! Hope you are doing well!

Thanks, M and the Gang. We’re doing great over here. Love seeing your recent updates!

I will take what cupcake has to say over what is on the TV any day.
