Today’s five words are from Mom’s June Challenge story, which she barely finished a couple of days ago. #junechallenge Yes, it’s the middle of July.
16. Bumblebee – Even though Mom is afraid of bees, she wrote a story about one. Sometimes, she tells me a bumblebee is going to sting my face off. I dare you, Bee.
4. Swing – I never miss a chance to show my baby swing picture. Now that I am older and fatter… I mean more dignified (and more stubborn), I will NOT let Mom squish me into the swing anymore. Sometimes you just have to put your paw down.
22. Colors – Mom never plans her stories before she starts writing them. She just jumps in and types and follows the characters, hoping they will grow and change and get more colorful as the plot develops.
Sometimes, she doesn’t plan what I’m going to wear. She just picks random things and puts them on me. Then I end up wearing so many colors, I look like a hobo clown.

It’s not polite to stare…
8. Froze – In the winter, everything around me froze,

This guy…
but I stayed toasty warm.
95. Flowers – Like flowers, story ideas start out as tiny seeds. If they get the right attention, they grow into something awesome. Flowers in my neighborhood look amazing.
Certainly too amazing to harbor bumblebees that will sting my face off. I hope…

Bring it on, Bee.

Hi dear Cupcake! First of all you look so cute in your outfits – even the clown one – you’re missing a red nose though (which I bet the bee could have given you….haha). My Mom used to write as you know and she always let her characters take the story where they wanted to go. After all they are the STARS (like you and I are!!).
Hugs, Teddy
Your mom was the same kind of writer like my mom, T. Seat-of-the-Pants writer. I’m glad you know you are a star, buddy. I think the blanket picture says it all for both of us.
Love and licks,
C
you’re a star, cupcake!
Thanks, B. That’s always my goal.
Love and licks,
C
I bet when the time for the children’s library story time comes again, and visiting the old soldiers, you will be shining like the star you are! I always like seeing your outfits. So do those you visit. Just think…there will be snow again and there will be other frosty guys to see with their carrot noses.
KI
Those things are all things I am looking forward to, KI. Even though there’s a good chance that Mom will wrestle me into my boots, parka, and leg warmers to go find snowmen, I will still have fun.
Love and licks,
C
Thank you, Cupcake, for bringing a smile to our faces on this steamy Monday morning. We particularly enjoyed your colorful costume – you look like the bee’s knees wearing it (which may spark another story idea for your Mom). Stay cool!
~Two Orange Pups & their Mum
Thanks, PT. That outfit really was one for the record books. My whole neighborhood was in an uproar when they saw it.

C
We love the buzzy bees around here, especially the bumbles! Pretty soon the gigantic hydrangea bush will be blooming, and there will be every kind of bee, fly, wasp, beetle, moth, and butterfly checking it out! We can’t wait! But we understand that some people are afraid of the stinging bugs. Now, when it comes to spiders, which we also love … OK, I’ll stop now.
Good luck to your mom with her writing. I bet she gets lots of inspiration from you, Cupcake!
Thanks, C. And especially thank you for not saying too much about spiders. Your humans are MUCH MUCH better about bugs and crawly things than Mom. We are city girls 100%, so our acceptable ecosystem is very limited.
Love and licks,
C
We think it’s time to move on to the adult swing, C. We watched your babyswing video, and OMD, you were an adorable youngster in it. And that neon lime green camo outfit with the patriotic scarf…we just don’t even know what to say, except, of course we have something to say about everything….it hurt our eyes, had to turn our heads away….maybe chew it up first chance you get. (Don’t tell your Mom we said that last part.) XOX Xena and Lucy
LOL. I should’ve eaten that neon outfit first chance I got. I have lost my taste for clothing these days, although I have eaten a coat or two in my lifetime. Mom is afraid I will fall off the grown-up swing. I’ll stick to climbing rocks and snow piles and balancing on curbs to stay safe.
Love and licks,
C
Good plan,C.
You look great no matter what you’re wearing, Cupcake, besides, you’re half camouflaged, so actually we only see the bandana that you’re wearing…*whispurrs *what was your mom thinking…MOL* We have a lot of bumblebees, they’re working 24/7, so they don’t have time to sting you. Granny burries them when they have finish their tasks on our planet, that’s weird huh…MOL..anyway…O, I think I have a name now for my toast 😉 Now let’s get swing together, I so want to do that one time😸COOL Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead to you and your mommy🐾😽💞
Thanks, Little B. Burying bees!!? That is the first time I ever heard of that activity. Mom would likely be afraid of the bees even after they are dead. I am relieved to know that the camo part of my neon outfit made me partly invisible. I would not want anybody to see me like that!
Love and licks,
C
Remember Cupcake…for all things it’s better late than never. 😇 Well, except for bees.
For sure, M. For the bees it’s “better never than ever.”
Love and licks,
C
I am sitting in my den with the door closed, because a bee is trapped in the living room and I can’t get it out of the house! I’m with your Mom and bees. Great words. But I especially liked the expression on your face, with the roses.
Thanks, P. I hope the bee in your living room is gone by now. *shiver* Once there was a fly in my house, and Mom pretty much wrecked the place trying to get it. She knocked over picture frames, moved furniture, and went nuts. RIP, fly.
Love and licks,
C
Tell your Mom, that we all try to be kind. But when it comes to insects, I think that we all have a little Hitler in us. I finally ushered the bee out the door — but not always! 🙂
C, you know red is your colour…brings forth the blush in your fce. Your blog always gives mom a chuckle and just feels like a happy place to be.
Tyebe
Thanks, T. I am glad to bring smiles. It used to be my therapy job, till the pandemic. So I’m happy to do it virtually till things are normal again.
Love and licks,
C
I’m writing something now that I tried to plan out but couldn’t so I started anyway. Hopefully, I will figure it out as I go.
That strategy (non-strategy) works for Mom. She says that’s what editing is for. Good luck!
Love and licks,

Um Cupcake, We’re not sure daring a bee is a good thing to do…be careful when sniffing those beautiful flowers. ~Bonnie, Belle and Bessie Pups
Thanks, B, B, and B. That is sound advice. I can only be daring because I know Mom is right there to rescue me. …unless she drops my leash and runs away one of these days!
Love and licks,
C
You have to watch for bees… I once sat on one in a swimsuit. ow. The snowman and snow is looking pretty good right now. I love your cutie pie self in the swing picture!
Thanks, Pix. They say bees don’t bother you if you don’t bother them. I think you DID bother that bee a lot by sitting on him. *rude* I hope your butt is feeling better. That bothering thing is a lie, anyway. Mom got stung once while she was ASLEEP on the beach. Go figure.
Love and licks,
C
Out of all of this, even though the flowers and colors are amazing, I gotta say, that photo of you on that red blanket up top blew me away. You look fabulous, friend. ❤️
Thanks, G. Fabulous is always a huge goal for me. I’m pretty sure red is my color. Also stars are my color…
Love and licks,
C

Lulu: “Hmm, those bumblebee things sound dangerous. Maybe the cats have the right idea, just watching them from inside the house.”
Chaplin: “We cats ALWAYS have the right idea.”
Cupcake, thanks for genuine honest laughter!
So cute! Have a nice weekend my friend!
You could never look like a hobo clown. You are way too cute! Beware of bees. Bentley can tell you they bite back and will make your face swell up.
Hi Cupcake, we think you look dashing in your clothes. Sort of like an eccentric country gentleman who wears what he likes. We do not like bees here, the Mom has stepped on to many and gotten stung. We will be thinking of you Monday. Thank you for coming by to visit us and your kind thoughts for Fenris.
