Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.
~Ray Bradbury~
Thinking is SO overrated. I avoid it at all costs. Mom asks me “What were you thinking?” all the time. I try to tell her, “Nuthin'” but I’m not sure she understands. What is she thinking I’m thinking? She needs to stop thinking.

Captured under a walker?
Nuthin’…

Head caught in a shopping bag?
Nuthin’…

Squished under a chair?
Nuthin’…

Too close to the edge?
Nuthin’…
It’s really pretty simple, actually. Don’t think. Just do.
Mom is doing things these days, too. Just doing. Not thinking. She’s partway through a new story and partway through a new poem. And she submitted a couple of things last week, too. She found them in the computer, fixed them up all shiny and new and sent them on their way out into the world for people to judge. She will do the same when she gets to the end of her latest story and poem. First she will make sure there’s enough conflict and a surprise ending twist. Then off they go. Not thinking is fun.
Except when you head face first into the sticker bush by the lake….

Ouch. Not fun…

I’d like to visit that lake with you. I’m sure we’d have lots of fun!
Oh yeah, C. Two white doggies at a muddy lake. Sounds perfect!
Love and licks,

Sticker bushes aren’t fun indeed…..one of my favoirite “yard potty spots” is in the middle of stickers. What’s with that? Mom thinks I’m nuts but I know that inside the stickers I’m SAFE. Tee Hee I try not to think about ANYTHING Cupcake except where my next nap should be. That’s it. I do lead a simple life!
Hugs, Teddy
I saw that you had a run-in with the stickers yourself, T. Thank goodness moms are brave enough to get in and get us out. And then pick the stickers out of our furs!
Love and licks,
C
My younger (adult) son doesn’t think before he “does” most of the time. That’s why he has alienated so many people and gotten into so much trouble. This time, C, I have to disagree with your mom. 😦 Oh, and please think before falling into the river! ❤
Mom says “by some miracle” I didn’t fall in. I came close a few times, though. Whew! Humans may have to do a little bit of thinking in some areas of life. You’re right about that, A.
Love and licks,
C
Keep encouraging your mom, Cupcake.
Thanks, T. I will. That’s what I’m here for…
Love and licks,
C
I love that top photo, Cupcake! You are the best! Boomer and Mom
Thanks, B and L. I’m pretending it’s spring, even though it’s still freezing in NJ.
Love and licks,
C
Mom and I are too. The wind is terrible here.
Cupcake, I think you’re right. It’s best not to think….well a bit so we don’t get run over or anything dramatic like that. I like to just DO also. It’s fun and there’s nuthin’ that can upset me.
Shoko
Good strategy, S. Thinking just enough to stay out from under a speeding car sounds like a plan!
Love and licks,
C
Not thinking is okay, not watching where you’re going can be problematic. Here’s hoping there are unimpeded pathways for both you and your huMom, Cupcake.
Thanks, M. I don’t know about the unimpeded part, but we are both following our pathways like crazy!
Love and licks,
C
👍🏻
Oh Cupcake, no sticker bushes are not fun at all, I hope you didn’t get hurt. But that not thinking thing is a pretty good idea, I think we’re going to give that a try today ~ nose nudges Belle pup
Thanks, B. I didn’t get hurt in the stickers. I guess that’s why I keep going back. There were a bunch of them stuck in my furs and my sweater, but none went through my skin. Mom plucked them all off me. That’s her job…
Love and licks,
C
Exactly! Don’t think – just do. Maybe that’s how I got caught with my nose in the ice tray in the bottom freezer. I’m just sayin’. Snorts with piggy laughter my beautiful friend. XOXO – Bacon
GAH! Be careful in the freezer, B. A warm cuddly pig like you won’t want to have a chillynose!
Love and licks,
C
This is so true beautiful! XOXO – Bacon
I overthink stuff way too much. I am learning to let go and just do… never too old to learn something new! Good luck to your Mom with her fixed up shiny and new things she sent in!
Thanks, Pix. Luck is always welcome around here. I’m happy you’re getting away from overthinking. It sounds exhausting!
Love and licks,
C
The perfect quote for “overthinkers”! Great post 👍🏼
Thanks, A. No overthinkers here. Mom and I are underthinkers…
Love and licks,
C
Thinking is definitely overrated! and it hurts my head. I’m with you. Thinking nuthin’ is better than thinking too much of somethin’. Spontaneity! That’s my word of the day. 👍🏼❤️🐶
Thanks, G. Spontaneity is my word of the day EVERY day. Mom says I have a clear head. Truer words were never spoken.
Love and licks,
C
Oh man C….stuck head first in the sticker bush? Trapped by the walker? Head caught in the shopping bag? Wowzers. Girl, be careful while you aren’t thinking, OK? ❤️
KI
Thanks for the heads up, KI. I am usually NOT very careful. But don’t worry. Mom is always there to rescue me. She’d be bored if she didn’t have that job…
Love and licks,
C
Ray Bradbury is about my most favorite author.

It’s actually tricky to not think about things. Weigh the odds, toss around the pro’s and con’s, make decisions and what not. But I seem to manage it all day. I don’t think I remember where my Keys are, I don’t think about filling the wiper fluid in the car until it’s all gone and I’ve just been cut off by a jerk in a big pick-up truck. Oh see, now that I’ve thought about that, I’ve said too much. Tee-hee xo B
Ha! See what I mean, Boomdee? It’s a slippery slope. Thinking causes other thinking. And that can cause other thinking. *shiver* It makes me happy that my brain is the size of a marble. No room for too many thoughts…
Love and licks,
C
snicker, But what a cute marble that is ❤
Avoid those sticker bushes – no one likes a poke in the nose!
Thanks for the heads up. The stickers missed my nose. Whew!
Love and licks,
C
Thinking too much is not good for your soul. Acting on impulse can bring treasured rewards. ☺
Thanks, MK! I LOVE treasured rewards!

Meditation is the art of not thinking. I can’t meditate. 🙂
I think I’d be a GREAT meditator! Not thinking is my specialty.
Love and licks,
C
I’ll have to think about that.
Sometimes Granny wishes that she could stop her head from thinking, Cupcake and I am helping her with that. I’m like you, I don’t think, I just do! That sticker bush must have been very prickly…I think…not…MOL 😀 Granny didn’t know what a sticker bush was, so I had to translate it for her. She thought 🙀 it was very sticky…MOL 😀 Good Luck with the new-old-stories! Pawkisses for a wonderful day 🙂 ❤
GAH! A “sticky” bush would be something else entirely. I hope to find one and dive into it someday! You are such a help to Granny in SO many ways, Little B. #luckygranny
Love and licks,
C
First of all, don’t THINK about getting that close to the water here when you visit with mom because the gators will not THINK twice about snacking on your cute self. Second momma needs to send me some stuff to read. She’s slacking off on that. And C, you’re so right! Thinking takes the place of action! Just do! With a bit of caution. 🐊😂
Don’t worry, G. Mom will NOT let me get too close to the water by you. She is 800 miles away and has the heebie-jeebies thinking about the creatures we may encounter there. Typically, she is ready to pack up and move and burn the house down when she sees a moth, so yeah… There’s that. I’m not sure what you want to read… Books? She’s got a huge list of books to read because she is the slowest reader in the world.
Love and licks,
C
Mom’s stuff 😳 I never get to read any.
