Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Countdown Wednesday

Today, Mom and I are counting down about favorites.

My Favorites

3. Eating is my favorite activity. Sometimes, Mom adds chicken pieces to my kibbles. Sometimes, she puts in some carrots or green beans. If she gives me plain kibbles, I look at her like…

Seriously??

Plain kibbles are not OK.

That’s more like it!

2. My favorite place to sleep is in Mom’s bed. I am very cuddly in that thing. Plus, I like to stay under the covers. Waaaay under the covers.

1. My favorite toy is….

Um…. GAH! I love them all!

Mom’s Favorites

3. Morning is Mom’s favorite time to work on writing stories. She dreamed that she would do all her writing in her pajamas,

but she can’t manage it. She flies out of bed and dives into the shower at the crack of dark, and then gets dressed so we can go for a walk.

2. Mom loves both her published stories – her print book –

and her eBook –

but her favorite pre-published books are named Ballet Secret and Cupcake Learns. She always wants one of them to become the elusive Book#2. So far… Nope.

1. Mom’s favorite part of being an author is school visits. She loves reading stories to kids and talking to them about writing and being an author. Sometime soon, I plan to go to school with her…

Backpack, books, apple for the teacher… I’m ready!

  1. I love the idea… and the mama would like to do EVERYTHING in her PJ. plain kobble… a no-go… plain kibble is like a plain story… and every story and every kibble need highlights, right?

    • So true, P. Stories need highlights, just like our days need highlights. A road trip, walk, or playtime is a must for every fun day.

      Love and licks,
      C

  2. Hi C. I know that look about the plain kibble. I know it well.

  3. You definitely look READY for school Cupcake…..I think your Mom will get Book 2 done before you know it……writing is – well – complicated…..Mom says you can be headed down what feels like the right road with a story and it just falls off a ledge into nothing – – OR sometimes it takes a road you hadn’t even SEEN and ends in a surprise! Meanwhile, you just keep being adorable because I’m sure it not only means smiles for your Mom but inspiration for her too!!!

    Love and Hugs, Teddy

  4. That’s a great list of favorites! I’m not a morning person, I’m not sure how your mom does it!

  5. I’m with you on the plain kibble, Cupcake! There should always be something extra.

I hope you get a trip to school soon.

  6. Ballet Secret and Cupcake Learns sound like wonderful books. Your Mom will work it all out, I know she will… in her pajamas maybe. Your toys! I can see how you would love them all. I would definitely know the “seriously” look and I would probably give you anything you wanted!

    • Thanks, Pix. I like how you think! Those are only half of my toys. The rest are hidden in the closet. When I forget about them, Mom with switch them out into the box and put these in the closet. She’s tricky that way.

      Love and licks,
      C

  7. Writing in PJ’s is great! Love your PJ’s Genevieve. Have you considered self publishing? Ballet Secret and Cupcake Learns sound like great books. I’m sure Cupcake would be delighted too!

    • Thanks, T. Mom thinks self publishing is a lot of work. That is not even her favorite kind of work!

      Love and licks,
      C

  8. You have the life, kiddo! And I’m waiting on mom’s book 2 as well. It will come insure.
Don’t rush school. We still have a whole lot of summer livin’ to do. 🍦🌭🍹🏊🏽🏄🏼‍♀️🏖👍🏼📚

    • Wouldn’t it be cool if auto correct knew what I REALLY wanted to say? 😳
      Ncfyivhvfjtbxzvnkotecbjtcnh!!!!!

      • Ha! Thanks, G. We are all waiting for the same thing. You’d think all that karma would do something in the universe. Not yet. Auto-correct should be called Auto-screw-up.

        Love, licks, and cvifgrywbcjugnt,

    You two are great!

  10. Cupcake…I always visualize you in a tutu! You should be the main character in all of Mom’s books ….I think you would make the best illustrations. Your pal Fiona

    • Good point, F. Me in a tutu… How can that miss?? Forget Ballet Secret – Mom needs to write Ballet Doggie! Thanks!!!

      Love and licks,
      C

  11. Bravo, Cupcake, for not eating the teacher’s apple. You will be a great addition to Mom’s presentation.

I chuckled at the thought of staying in pajamas to write. I’d love to do that, too, but I don’t want to embarrass the Two Orange Pups when I take them for walks!

    • Thanks, PT. You are a good dogmom taking your pups’ embarrassment into consideration. We could use more of that around here. Apple-wise, I enjoy my apples cooked with cinnamon. I’m not an animal after all… Wait. What??

      Love and licks,
      C

  12. You will definitely be teacher’s pet, Cupcake.

  13. I’m with you, Cupcake! Plain kibble is SO PLAIN! I like the little bits of chicken I get also! Boomer

  14. C, you are one happy woofie and now we know why. Keep you mama safe.

    Loves,

    Shoko and Kali

    • Thanks, S and K. I do have kind of a happy life. Chillin’ like a kitty. What’s not to love…?

      Love and licks,
      C

Hi Cupcake! You and your mom both had awesome favorites! Thanks for sharing them with us. Oh and I usually give the same look that you do when My Margret and My Greg forget to add carrots to our supper! ~nose nudges Bonnie Pup.

    • Thanks, B. I mean morning dinner or night dinner without carrots or other treats is crazy behavior! Humans. Ugh, sometimes.

      Love and licks,
      C

  16. Cute post! Love the picture of your mom in her PJs. Cupcake, you look way to proud of your toy stash.

    • Thanks, P. I do love playing with my toys. Soon, Mom will stash these in the closet and bring out the bag of toys that she has hidden in there. When she does the switcheroo, I think she went shopping! New toys!!

      Love and licks,
      C

  17. You both look ready to take on the world, Cupcake! Love the pajamas and the toys 🙂 And WHAT IS MOM THINKING when she forgets to add yummies to your kibble???!!! I know that ANY book Mom writes that is about you or has you in it is going to sell. No way around it! 🙂

    • Thanks, S. Sometimes when Mom puts down a plain bowl of dinner, I think she is demented and has never even met me before. I mean. how can I take on the world with her if I’m eating unadorned kibble? I’m not an animal, after all… Wait. What?

      Love and licks,
      C

  18. Lovely post! I do a lot of work in my p.j.s! 🙂 Cupcake you look more than ready to go to school! And your toy box has a lot more toys than Brownie’s. She mostly just likes to play with rocks now. Mainly just one flat one that slides!

    • Thanks, P. I have never known a doggie who has a rock as a toy. I think that is fascinating. Sometime, you should draw a picture of Brownie and her rock.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • It is pretty funny to watch! I don’t know if you are ever on Facebook, but there is a short video of her playing with it on my page! And yes, sometime, I plan to draw more of Brownie.

        Love you!
        Patsy

  19. Lady dreams of working in her pjs too!

    • That is a good dream to aspire to, L and P. As long as Mom doesn’t dress me in MY pjs, I’m on board. #notlovingthepjs

      Love and licks,
      C

  20. Going to school with mom is a great idea.

  21. I bet the kids at the school would love to see you Cupcake but the kids might get a little excited and scare you. We love all your outfits. You all have a great week end.

    • Thanks, M. I am not usually afraid of kids. I like when they get excited about me! Kids are delicious.

      Love and licks,
      C

  22. School visits most be great fun. It is always good to count your loves.

  23. hello cupcake its dennis the vizsla dog oh hay wow yore top three and my top three ar like almost eksaktly the saym how abowt that!!! and my dada likes to do his riting in the morning just like yore mama!!! he duznt do reedings at skools tho with the stuf he rites they wood probly kik him owt before he eeven got started!!! ha ha ok bye

    • Hey, D the V. Ha! I think it’s funny that your dada would get tossed out of school if he tried to read to the kids. Oh boy! That would be a bad thing!

      Love and licks,
      C

  24. aaww beautiful. Mom/dad only wishes they had a cute little visitor like you when they were in school. I just know everyone has an awesome time when you visit. Love you. XOXO – Bacon

  25. Pierre is my snuggle buddy but neither of the boys like being under covers. I guess it is just too hot around here. I would love to say I jump up and shower to start my day but I need to work on that goal. I am also proud of my published books but need to get back to writing☺

    • If I had a choice about it – and I do mean IF, I’d stay under covers all day! I love to feel hot hot hot. Mom is a morning person. I am less of a morning person (doggie).

      Love and licks,
      C

  26. Katie Isabella said:

Cupcake! I love the thought somebody above me here mentioned of you in a tutu! That would be supreme for a school visit and to give us a smile at how adorable you are!! I know a kitty with her own little closet (an end table sized cabinet) and I wonder if you have anything for your outfits!? XXoOO

    • Thanks, KI. I do enjoy wearing a tutu. I have a few of them. Purple is my favorite. I used to share the coat closet with Mom in our old house. My things took up half and hers took the other half. Now all my clothes are neatly folded up in a plastic storage box in the storage closet. My raincoat is the only thing sharing the coat closet with Mom, now.

      Love and licks,
      C
