Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Countdown Wednesday

123

Today we are counting down things we believe.

Things Mom Believes

35. Writing is a tough job. Being a teacher was a tough job, too. And so is being a college supervisor…. The bottom line is – I guess all jobs are tough. That’s why they’re called work and not a party.

THIS is a party!

THIS is a party!

 2. Book 2 and/or e-Book 2 will happen eventually. Learning her craft, writing a lot, reading a lot, and submitting sometimes is what writers do. Getting rejected a lot is also what writers do. So, Mom is doing what writers do. Mission accomplished.

16. Author visits are fun. Mom has 2 school visits scheduled in the next few weeks. She believes they are one of the best parts of being an author. She will talk, read, ask and answer questions, and play games. Author visits are not my favorite.

Things I Believe

6. Watching The Puppy Bowl is a tough job.

I am sure I could’ve made a hundred touchdowns, spiked the ball, the pig, the monkey, and the rubber chicken, and done the victory dance like crazy. If only I could figure out how to get inside the TV.

Hullo…?

21. Read to a Pet Night will happen eventually. All I need to do is look cute, wait for Mom to get ready,

img_4853

be a good girl on my ParkIt Mat, and soon the kids will come and read to me.

Mission accomplished.

3. Snow is fun. I like walking and running in the snow, as long as it doesn’t touch my belly. Sometimes the snow gets crazy and blows my ears out like wings and makes my eyes get all squinchy. Slightly less fun, but aside from street nap weather, snow is my next favorite.

  1. yes that is true… if we want to do something it the best way it gets tough… but there is always the reward… it hasn’t to be moneeh, although that would be great… a smile is a great reward too …

  2. Yep work id definitely no party ~ going with Mom to read to a pet night must be awesome though x

    • It is, Mrs. P! The place is crawling with kids, kids, kids. They’re delicious! And they love to make a fuss about me.

      Love and licks,
      C

  3. I love the snow! It doesn’t often reach all the way up my legs to touch my belly, but it’s great when it does as I bounce like Tigger from Winnie-the-Pooh. There was a dusting of snow this morning, hardly enough to get a taste.

    • Snow on the belly is scary, C. When I wandered into a snow drift, I was stuck, stuck, stuck. Then Mom says I popped out like a wine cork! Sometimes, Tigger is the only way to go!

      Love and licks,
      C

  4. No tough job for you to look cute… you are a natural cutie! That snow is crazy beautiful but now if I was there I would want it to go away… 🙂 You would have been a star at the Puppy Bowl!

    • Thanks, Pix! Mom also likes the snow for the first day or so. When it turns gray and hard and trash-filled, ugh! She wishes it would be gone. Frankly I don’t mind snow-trash….

      Love and licks,
      C

  5. I’m sure you are the best at all the jobs you do. So is mom. Book 2, e-book 2, they will come, I’m sure. I have read lots of mom’s stuff over the years, and I am still baffled that these publishers don’t get it. There are tons of stories that mom wrote that I would have bought for my grandkids, had they been published with pretty pictures. My son and daughter read some when they were little pups themselves and loved them. Mom should be totally famous by now. She should have already been on GMA and all those other shows I never watch, plugging her stories. Get with it, people!
    Phew! Am I ranting?
Keep on looking cute, and practice your counting. ❤🐶

    • Thanks, G. Sometimes ranting is the way to go. Waiting is tough, but Mom stays positive and knows the time has to be right. Then we hope like crazy that the right time will come already! Jeesh!!

      Love and licks,
      C

  6. Cupcake you’re right – about everything (as usual). Work is called that because that’s what it is……! You look totally adorable in your cupcake dress and I just bet kids LOVE to read to you…..I would…. !

    Hugs, Angel Sammy

    • Thanks, Angel S. Lots of the kids who come to the library don’t have their own doggies, so YES! They love to read to me and pet me and see me do tricks and give me treats.

      Love and licks,
      C

I’m sorry we’re late but Mum hates us going out in the snow!

  8. Stay warm in this crazy cold, snowy weather, Cupcake. Chili’s ears looked like wings this morning, too. And he wanted to be in the Puppy Bowl with you – maybe next year! Bravo to Mom for continuing to write, share her stories, and submit them. It may look like work to you, but for a writer like Mom, it’s pure joy (except, of course, rejections;()!

    • So true, P. The rejections and the waiting can be tough. I help as much as I can – usually staring till mom says the word, “This is getting creepy.” That’s good…. Right…?

      Love and licks,
      C

  9. What a wonderful and interesting life you lead Cupcake. You have a very talanted Mom. Love reading about your adventures – long may they last. Mary & Benji

  10. Hey, Cupcake! You look stunning in RED! Boomer
P.S. Mom likes me in red also!

  11. Cupcake…you sure do have a busy day. The Puppy Bowl was fun and I’m sure you could have shown some of those dudes how to play and get a few touchdowns.

Hey Cupcake… you are right about everythingy… except Today is Friday not Wednesday.

    • Thanks for the heads-up, F and E. Days of the week give me a headache. I don’t even try to keep track anymore. Ouch!

      Love and licks,
      C

  13. Cupcake, you always make me smile! You too, Genevieve. 😀

  14. Keep up the good work you two, you inspire the rest of us! 😇

  15. hello cupcake its dennis the vizsla dog hay i am glad yoo enjoy the sno so mutch!!! my sister trixie luvd the snow and my brother tucker hayted it but i hav never ekspeeryensed it!!! i do not no if i cud stand the suspense of watching the puppy bowl and wundring wen it wood be time for a meel brayk!!! kongratchoolayshuns to yore mama on the awthor reedings i do not no if i cud sit stil for that long eether with all those peepuls wot i do not no but if they like yore mamas riting they must be okay peepuls!!! ok bye

    • I think snow is an acquired taste, D the V. I never even saw it till I was 3 and Mom got me from the rescue. When she opened the door, I said the word, “Hell NO!” But Mom taught me to walk in it and then I taught myself to run in it. However, if the snow touches my belly, all bets are off and I need to be carried.

      Love and licks,
      C

  16. That would be amazing when you could jump right into the game on television, Cupcake. I tried to step into my tablet..and Granny’s wake up lamp, but it didn’t work out the way I suppose it could…MOL 😀 Hot Pawkisses for a Warm Monday 🙂 ❤

    • Ha! I’m glad I’m not the only one with those crazy ideas, Little B. Some of my best ideas don’t work out the way I originally visualized them. Exhibit A – the day I ate one of Mom’s pills….

      Love and licks,
      C

  17. Katie Isabella said:

Cupcake, as quickly as I get into the TV I will text you Cupcake. You DO have a phone, right? Right? I wanted to get into it to slay some birdies, rats and butterflies while watching my pet sitter video but…for some inexplicable reason (mom taught me that word) I couldn’t get in no matter how I tried. I will find the way and YOU will be the first to learn the method.

  18. Great list! This made my day, C! 🙂

  19. It’s currently street nap weather here in Wisconsin – you’d love it!

    • I tried a street nap this morning, S, but it was 39 degrees. Mom called me the word of, “Psycho.”

      Love and licks,
      C

      • You’ll just have to try again tomorrow. You know what they say, if at first you don’t succeed, try try again (as opposed to what Schooner says, which is if at first you don’t succeed, try scratching someone).

  20. We agree that all of those things are very tough! Okay, maybe not watching the Puppy Bowl but the cheering can be exhausting!

  21. Lots of though things in Moms life…but than there is you and that means party time!!! xoxox Johanna

  22. […] they don’t watch. They say what they say and Mom decides what to do in the end. Nobody’s watching. Except […]
