Five Word Friday

five

Spring is coming soon!

park equipment

I love change, so changing to a new season makes me happy. Today’s 5 words are about change.

Weather – When spring comes, winter goes away and the weather gets warm and sunny and nice. Some days, I can take a springtime street nap.

…or explore the park.

Cutting – This week, Mom changed one of her stories from having 790 words to having 501 words. In picture books, 500 words need to tell the whole story. That’s not to say some stories aren’t 700 or 800 words. And at the other end of the spectrum some stories are 11 words or 26 words. That’s a totally different kind of “picture” book than the ones Mom writes.

OutfitsΒ – Mom ordered me a new raincoat and new collars for spring.

I change outfits a lot. It keeps things interesting.

Visit – Mom will do a school visit next week. It’s a change from the usual visits that she does. At this school visit, instead of a big bunch of students, Mom will meet with 6 or 7 small groups of kids. She will talk to them, read to them, and play with them. It will be fun.

I’ll just wait here…..

Toys – It’s been ages since Mom changed up my toybox. She thinks I forgot that there’s a bag of toys in the top of the closet. Truth be told, I kind of did forget what’s in there. So when she switches out the toys in the box for the toys in the bag, I will be as excited as if she went shopping at Petco, Target, and PetSmart and shopped till she dropped – all for me!

  1. I sure do like your Easter outfit and your toy box is fantastic. You should be invited to go to school too–they would really like having you there. Happy Easter, Lady Caroline

    • Thanks, Lady C! I wish I could go along, but Mom will be too busy to take care of me. When one of her dog books finally gets published, I will not take no for an answer.

      Love and licks,
      C

  2. Love that new daisy collar, Cupcake! You look very nice in it! Spring is great, isn’t it?! What is mom doing to ring in the changes?

    • Thanks, JM. Mom is shopping for new clothes that look like spring, but feel like winter. She’s cold, but wants to celebrate the season…

      Love and licks,
      C

  3. Cupcake, most of us hate change, but you make it sound like fun. Maybe it is all in the way you look at it. Why don’t you get to go help your Mom with the smaller group of kids? That change would be fun for you, too. Mom used to change up my toys and I remember how exciting it was, just like getting all new ones but with great familiar scents. She only stopped because I don’t care about toys anymore. Happy Spring, my friend!

    • Thanks, L. Toys are still exciting to me. And you’re right – It DOES feel like getting all new ones. That’s one advantage of having a short memory…

      Love and licks,
      C

  4. Changes can be good! I’m ready for a change in the weather – Spring is trying to get here but there’s snow in our forecast on Sunday – the first day of Spring? What’s with that??? Anyway, I loved all your photos today – can’t wait to see your new raincoat….although I bet you aren’t anxious for the RAIN that means you get to wear it!

    Love, Sammy

    • You’re right, S. I am NOT looking forward to walking in the rain. Kitties are lucky to be able to stay in on bad weather days. Pretty soon it’ll be April-showers-bring-May-flowers. Ugh. I’m doomed!

      Love and licks,
      C

Hi Cupcake we were so surprised how many toys you have to play with – your Mom spoils you.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

  6. Well talk about your lucky dog! Look at all those toys! And that dress! And those collars! I am loving the changes. And look at you sitting there all well behaved and pretty. I have five words for you. Change can be a good thing. 🐢❀️

  7. We love change, too, especially when we’re at the center of it all. Love the idea of toys in the closet. Think we’ll have to check to see if our Mum has shopped till she dropped for us.

    The Two Orange Pups

    • Oh, I HOPE like anything that your mom shopped till she dropped for you, Pups. Keep a eye on the closet…

      Love and licks,
      C

Momwithoutpaws is learning how not to be wordy her editor for the paper says “To flowery cut it back” Ok she writes poetry she can cut it back. Then editor says “I had to add to humanize it” good grief pawlessparents have it tough

    • Ugh! Editors! They are never satisfied! Meanwhile, Mom would give anything to have an editor working with her on a new book. So far, she’s on her own writing and trying to be noticed by an editor or an agent.

      Love and licks,
      C

  9. Cupcake, you have some great outfits. Our kitty wears outfits sometimes. That visit to the school with small groups sounds good. Do you get to go Cupcake?? You all have a great day.

    • Thanks, M. I am mostly not allowed to go to school visits with Mom till one of her dog books gets published. I can’t wait!

      Love and licks,
      C

  10. What lovely ‘changes!’ This put a smile on my face. You just look so lovely in your outfits, so….chic! Have a great day! Hugs! πŸ™‚

  11. how good that you furgot what’s in that bag… now it feels like getting a whole bag full of brandnew toys, isn’t that great? I love your brown collar, is that an edelweiss flower on that collar?

    • Thanks, E. My spring collar is actually black. Mom googled edelweiss and even though the flower looks like an edelweiss, we think it’s actually a daisy. Forgetting what’s in the toy bag makes for BIG surprises when Mom brings it out to switch. So exciting!

      Love and licks,
      C

  12. Looks like spring has you busy!

  13. aaww – I love y our clothes my friend. The only other person that I know that loves clothes as much is Houdini. You two would make an awesome team. XOXO – Bacon the Cupid

  14. I hope your mom enjoys her visit to the school.

My bipeds swap my toys around. It’s as much fun as getting brand new toys!

    • Thanks, C. You’re right! It is just like a toybox full of brand new surprises! It’s the advantage of having a short memory.

      Love and licks,
      C

  15. A RAINCOAT!!!! I want one! Mom likes to walk in the rain and I always get wet! YAY! A raincoat…I have to let Mom know!
    Boomer

    Linda

    • Smart, B. Mom always had to dry me off with paper towels after a rainy walk. With the raincoat, she only has to dry my head, feel, and tail.

      Love and licks,
      C

  16. As soon as the Olympics committee recognizes street napping as a competitive sport, Cupcake will get the credit she deserves for her athletic prowess.

  17. My goodness! Who is that beguiling easter bunny on the banner? πŸ™‚ Many kinds of change are good and exciting, Cupcake, but don’t you ever change from your darling self! πŸ™‚

    • Awww. Thanks, S. I love that you called me beguiling. It’s my first time being called that gorgeous word.

      Love and licks,
      C

Cupcake, we don’t know WHICH is bigger… your WARDROBE or your TOY COLLECTION…butt they are BOTH grrrrrrreat.

  19. Oh for the life of such a pampered pet! I can’t believe all of the very special things your mom does for you. I’m not going to show Archie this post. He’s had the same collar for five years — and it’s a cat collar because he’s so much smaller than you.

    • OMGoodness, P. Five years! That’s one raggedy old collar! My guess is Archie is so handsome, he could wear a dust rag around his neck and still look good.

      Love and licks,
      C

  20. Oh my goodness, Cupcake, your Easter outfit is beyond adorable! I’m excited about your springtime street naps and your new small-group school visits. Those are some super lucky students!

    • Thanks, Miss HL. Mom won’t bring me along to the school – not till one of her dog books gets published – which doesn’t look like any time soon. Thank goodness I can work at the library. Kids are the best.

      Love and licks,
      C

  21. YOU are a lucky dog to have such a devoted Mom, Miss Cupcake. I love the changing of the seasons, but otherwise, I’m typically not much good with change. 😦

    • Thanks, J. I think you are better at changes than you realize. Things change all the time at your house!!

      Love and licks,
      C

  22. Katie Isabella said:

Cupcake, I have to tell you that mom and I LOVE coming here to see you and we adore your comments and snippets of your life contained in them. Protecting you mom against the postman! AWESOME! The lawn cutters! AWESOME! Paper carriers…AWESOME! You are my kinda girlfriend! xox

    • Thanks, KI. I think we both have a similar world view. And mostly it is that the world revolves around us. *gulp* It does…. Right…?

      Love and licks,
      C

  23. Change? No one needs change….it scares the cwap outta me! Oh, the weather, well why didn’t you say so….I love spring and summer….I don’t figure its change though just the natural progression of the seasons……if it was change….I for one would be terrified! You always look so beautiful Madam Cupcake.

    Shoko

    • Thanks, S. I know that some changes CAN be scary. We doggies and kitties need to hunker down and trust our moms to take care of us and get us through it. We’ll all be OK with the warm weather, though. No worries.

      Love and licks,
      C

  24. Watch out for those street naps! Something nasty could happen – like a cat could see you out in the open and come for you. Or cars. But cats are nasty, too.

    • *gulp* Thanks for the heads up, S and C. I never thought about cats. They usually hide under cars around here, so that’s a real threat. Mom drags me into the gutter when a car comes.

      Love and licks,
      C

  25. WOW! You have more toys than my siblings have, Cupcake…MOL πŸ˜€ You are Always so well-dressed and the new collars look so Sunny on you. Granny says, you don’t have to wait to long for Spring now, it is just around the corner…well, I have checked that, must be someone elses corner πŸ˜‰ Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend πŸ™‚ ❀ ❀

    • I’m not sure about this spring thing either, Little B. The calendar says spring is today, But I had to wear my winter coat for my walk. Plus I shivered.

      Love and licks,
      C

  26. Oh Cupcake…you look adorable in yellow! Too cute. Have fun with all those toys. πŸ™‚

  27. Cupcake, I love your wardrobe! You’re all set for spring!

    • Thanks, SC. I love all my spring dresses. As long as I don’t freeze to death before it starts feeling like spring outside!

      Love and licks,
      C

  28. Wow you sure are lucky to have so many toys! We started spring with snow today…which we’re happy about but we doubt most other people share that feeling! πŸ™‚

  29. You do have the most gorgeous outfits Cupcake and you look so pretty in them! I love your pink dress and you make such a cute easter ‘bunny’. I also love your new collar. πŸ˜€

I can see you and mom are very excited about Spring. Sounds like you both are going to have lots of fun. Enjoy! πŸ˜€ β™₯

    • Thanks, S. Mom and I will go to the park a lot when the weather is nice. We will also start hiking again, soon. That’s what spring means to me.

      Love and licks,
      C

  30. Cupcake, you look adorable in your new outfits!!! Charley envies your raincoat and your bags with toys…you would not like sharing them with charley, she will eat all of them!! She only has dental floss ropes to play with and we have drawer full since she chews away one in a week…with her 8 years her teeth are in remarkable good order!!! xo Johanna

    • Thanks, J. Floss ropes are healthy for Charley. I used to rip my toys, but I usually don’t do that anymore. I just shake them, toss them, chase them, and sleep with them.

      Love and licks,
      C

  31. I love that cupcake dress on you!

    • Thanks, Mr. N. Mom and I like to have all of the cupcake accessories that we possibly can. That’s how we roll.

      Love and licks,
      C

  32. Happy Easter sweet one. Your gingham outfit is so fun! I wish my kitties would like to dress up. Does mommy wear bunnies ears too? I actually have a pair, just for fun πŸ˜€

    • Thanks, Boomdee. Mom will not wear the ears. Personally, I think the ears have been done to death, but I get treats if I wear them to get my picture taken. Sometimes, I accidentally go into my bed and fall asleep wearing the ears.

Love and licks and Happy Easter!
      C
