Spring is coming soon!
I love change, so changing to a new season makes me happy. Today’s 5 words are about change.
Weather – When spring comes, winter goes away and the weather gets warm and sunny and nice. Some days, I can take a springtime street nap.
Sometimes Mom lets me play on the baby swing,
…or explore the park.
Cutting – This week, Mom changed one of her stories from having 790 words to having 501 words. In picture books, 500 words need to tell the whole story. That’s not to say some stories aren’t 700 or 800 words. And at the other end of the spectrum some stories are 11 words or 26 words. That’s a totally different kind of “picture” book than the ones Mom writes.
Outfits – Mom ordered me a new raincoat and new collars for spring.
I change outfits a lot. It keeps things interesting.
Visit – Mom will do a school visit next week. It’s a change from the usual visits that she does. At this school visit, instead of a big bunch of students, Mom will meet with 6 or 7 small groups of kids. She will talk to them, read to them, and play with them. It will be fun.
I’ll just wait here…..
Toys – It’s been ages since Mom changed up my toybox. She thinks I forgot that there’s a bag of toys in the top of the closet. Truth be told, I kind of did forget what’s in there. So when she switches out the toys in the box for the toys in the bag, I will be as excited as if she went shopping at Petco, Target, and PetSmart and shopped till she dropped – all for me!

Cupcake, most of us hate change, but you make it sound like fun. Maybe it is all in the way you look at it. Why don’t you get to go help your Mom with the smaller group of kids? That change would be fun for you, too. Mom used to change up my toys and I remember how exciting it was, just like getting all new ones but with great familiar scents. She only stopped because I don’t care about toys anymore. Happy Spring, my friend!

Changes can be good! I’m ready for a change in the weather – Spring is trying to get here but there’s snow in our forecast on Sunday – the first day of Spring? What’s with that??? Anyway, I loved all your photos today – can’t wait to see your new raincoat….although I bet you aren’t anxious for the RAIN that means you get to wear it!

We love change, too, especially when we’re at the center of it all. Love the idea of toys in the closet. Think we’ll have to check to see if our Mum has shopped till she dropped for us.

Momwithoutpaws is learning how not to be wordy her editor for the paper says “To flowery cut it back” Ok she writes poetry she can cut it back. Then editor says “I had to add to humanize it” good grief pawlessparents have it tough
Ugh! Editors! They are never satisfied! Meanwhile, Mom would give anything to have an editor working with her on a new book. So far, she’s on her own writing and trying to be noticed by an editor or an agent.

Thanks, E. My spring collar is actually black. Mom googled edelweiss and even though the flower looks like an edelweiss, we think it’s actually a daisy. Forgetting what’s in the toy bag makes for BIG surprises when Mom brings it out to switch. So exciting!

Oh for the life of such a pampered pet! I can’t believe all of the very special things your mom does for you. I’m not going to show Archie this post. He’s had the same collar for five years — and it’s a cat collar because he’s so much smaller than you.
OMGoodness, P. Five years! That’s one raggedy old collar! My guess is Archie is so handsome, he could wear a dust rag around his neck and still look good.

Change? No one needs change….it scares the cwap outta me! Oh, the weather, well why didn’t you say so….I love spring and summer….I don’t figure its change though just the natural progression of the seasons……if it was change….I for one would be terrified! You always look so beautiful Madam Cupcake.

Watch out for those street naps! Something nasty could happen – like a cat could see you out in the open and come for you. Or cars. But cats are nasty, too.

Thanks, Boomdee. Mom will not wear the ears. Personally, I think the ears have been done to death, but I get treats if I wear them to get my picture taken. Sometimes, I accidentally go into my bed and fall asleep wearing the ears.
