Dress Up Your Pet Day

January 14 was Dress Up Your Pet Day. I participated, of course…

When I was first adopted, I resisted getting dressed. I even tried to eat my coat!

But then I learned. Mom dresses me when we do therapy work at the veteran’s home or the library.

It makes people smile and it also helps me not to leave too many furs on them when they cuddle with me.

Plus it keeps me warm so I don’t shiver.

In between dressing me and posting me, Mom was busy dressing up one of her stories. The simple beginning, middle, and end needed a fancy title, some colorful words, something sweet to make people smile,

and some warmth and emotion.

Mom calls dressing up her stories revising. She used to resist revising – I mean, she didn’t try to eat her coat or anything, but she fought making changes to dress things up. Now she likes revising. It usually means something fun is about to happen. At least we HOPE so!

  1. Well I suppose some dogs like ‘dressing up’ but myself do not like it. I love my own coat. Benji

  2. Cupcake your fabulous cupcake shirt looks just great!!! and I agree some stories need a dress up to make them “hot” for the readers… and specially in winter we rather read warm dressed stories than nekked ones :o)

    • You’re so right, E. Nobody wants to see a nekked story! Nekked dogs, on the other hand…… Hubba. Hubba.

You look very smart al dressed up Cupcake. We didn’t know you were a therapy dog but feel sure you will be very popular with all your ladies and gentlemen.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

    • Thanks, H and L. I am kind of popular in my therapy work. Lots of those old soldiers want to pet me, hold me, and give me treats. Sometimes they say, “You made my day!” I like that best of all….

  5. Cupcake you are so adorable in ALL your cute outfits……..and we are hoping your Mom has MANY more “accepteds” in her immediate future too!!! As for you – you’re accepted everywhere you go!

    Love, Sammy

  6. Such lovely style you have! Two paws up! 🙂

  7. Our collars are our “dresses” over at TwoOrangePups, and when Mum grabs them and places them around our wiggling necks, we know it’s time for fun – maybe a run! Mum doesn’t like the revising type of dressing, though, but maybe if she thinks like your Mom, Cupcake, she’ll begin to like it more & do a better job each time. And you look so lovely, Cupcake; if we had dresses like yours, maybe we’d dress up more, too.

    • Thanks, Pups. Collars are perfectly respectable outfits to wear. As long as they give you the signal that fun is coming, I’m on board! Tell your mom the more she revises, the easier it gets.

      Love and licks,
      C

  8. Nothing beats Cupcake wearing a triple cupcake sweater. Perfect.

  9. Some times we all have to dress it up a little …add some panache and bring on the sparkle, something good is going to happen for sure ❤

  10. Cupcake, you sure have a lot of outfits. Our Two Two will sometimes let the Mom dress her up. You sure are a good girl to wear your pretty dresses.

  11. You look very nice Cupcake. Boomer really doesn’t’ like to dress up. Boomer

Cupcake you always look super in all your dresses and outfits and I love seeing you in them. I also agree with your mom here . xox

  13. I can’t believe how patient you are with being dressed up. I’m glad it signals you are going someplace special. Wish I could get Archie into a sweater today since it’s -10 here today.

    • Thanks, P. Archie is brave going out in the cold with no sweater on. I wore a sweater UNDER my jacket today because of the cold. Now Mom is threatening to put boots on me because my feet were burning from the rock salt outside. GAH!

      Love and licks,

You look DEVINE in your Dresses and assorted outfits, Cupcake.

  15. Cupcake, I am glad you like dressing up, as I think your Mom might do that to you either way. After this weekend, my Mom is coming around to my way of thinking. I really don’t care if she says, “All that work for nothing.” It was for “something” if she learned her lesson, now wasn’t it? Does your Mom experience that in her story telling?
    *nose nudges*

    • RIP, updated hoodie. You had a short but impressive run. Mom always embraces the revisions on her story. She even deletes the original after every revision, so she never thinks about it again.

      Love and licks,
      C

  16. Giggle, I love your sweet face Cupcake. Whether you’re bouncing around naked or in one of your super stylish outfits, you make me smile xo B

  17. Ohlala, dressing up a story and do I spot a stamp ‘accepted’…is it really????
And Cupcake how happy I am you love dressing up now, Charley is eyeing your beautiful fur collared winter coat! xo Johanna

  18. Ah, cupcake you look beautiful as always. Mom, you keep dressing up those stories and they’ll be beautiful too. 🙂

  19. Your dresses are beautiful.

  20. Warmth and emotion. My favorite. Dressing up. Revising. Just two other names for stylin’. 😍

  21. No woofie dresses up better than you Cupcake.

  22. Aw, you look so cute in all of your outfits 🙂

  23. Way to rock the pooch-way, Cupcake-you’re just adorable in all those outfits. Tell your mom the way to good stories is paved with loads of revisions. It’s all part of the process and good for the soul (plus it makes editors happy) 🙂

  24. My dogs enjoy dressing up too. I thnk they believe that they look dashing!

  25. You look very cute in your outfits, Cupcake. If they got me something as pretty then I might consider it. You have a fun approach to revising – I hope it goes well!

    • Thanks, C. I think finding clothes in your size might be a challenge…. Lucky your furs are beautiful on their own.

      Love and licks,
      C

  26. Your mom is so smart (and you like damn cute in those clothes too.) For me the first bit of the writing process is just getting the bulk of the story out there. Characters, plot, settings, the revising is where the really good stuff comes in. 🙂

  27. You look adorable in your outfits! Keeping warm is a bonus too right?

    • Keeping warm is important, Mr. N. I am a shiverer from the first time Mom met me. The first thing she bought me was a little pink sweater to get me home.

      Love and licks,
      C

  28. I like that. Maybe if I dress up, I’ll get my cookie request accepted? No? Well, I tried. I hope your mama’s story gets accepted!

    • Thanks, R. You are dressed up enough when you wear your 2 leashes. Double leashes means double cookies. …I hope!

      Love and licks,
      C

Cupcake, you brighten my day! And I love when you get dressed up, It never fails to make my mom smile smile and smile. Me…I am hoping she doesn’t get any ideas! I’d eat the dress and hers too if she did!

    • Thanks, KI. I don’t think your mom would dare try to get you dressed up. Kitties don’t do well with that.

      Love and licks,
      C

  30. This sounds like a great day! 😀

  31. You have an outfit for every occasion, Cupcake and you look purrfect in each one of them, I especially like the black and why…because then you look kind of me 😀 Double Pawkiss for a wonderful Sunday and hopefully not so much snow anymore 🙂 ❤

  32. My Cod…I love to see you dressed up Cupcake…you look so good and so proud of yourself. After having a harness on for awhile I understand your happiness. Mom is always so delighted to see you dressed up. You are a little ray of sunshine my friend.

    Shoko

    • Thanks, S. Sunshine is exactly what we need around here after the blizzard. Good luck getting used to your harness. The rewards will be great!

      Love and licks,
      Cupcake

  33. How sweet! You have the best dog clothes I’ve seen in a while. 🙂

  34. The sweater with the three cupcakes rocks!
