Today’s five words are about being sick. Sort of… Not really…
Cone – I have been wearing the cone of shame for a week.
I wasn’t really sick, but I had some allergies and couldn’t stop biting and scratching my tummy. The cone (and some medicine) made me better.
Mmmm… Peanut butter! Wait. What?
Story-itis – One of Mom’s stories was feeling under the weather. Not really sick, but not up to par. Mom bit it and scratched it…. Not really. She actually fixed it and changed it A LOT and made it better.
Vet – The vet checked me out and pronounced me good to go.
Rating – Rate Your Story checked out Mom’s story and pronounced it ALMOST good to go. It’s just a little too long.
Cutting – Mom is cutting words like crazy out of her story before she sends it anywhere. We hope it’ll have a happy and successful trip when it’s ready.
Trip – We are cutting out the cone of shame and soon I’ll take my last pill. Then I’ll be ready for a happy and successful trip, too.
Road trip!
Maybe to the park.
Or hiking.
Or the reservoir.
Or to breakfast.

Oh gosh Cupcake……the cone huh? Well, I hope the pills did the trick and you have no more itchies! A bit of a trip to celebrate would be swell – breakfast out might mean bacon could accidentally get dropped on the ground and could accidentally get eaten by somebody I know and love who is totally adorable and at long last “cone-less” !!!!

Thanks S. Mom only eats bacon when she’s out, so I am always hopeful that some drops on the ground. Ditto some egg, some pancake, or a potato or two or six.

I hope that allergies run away from you soon and you can put that loudspeaker away fur ever, Cupcake. A story-itis is a difficult case, maybe Agatha Christie’s treatment will work? Put it in a chest and furget it for a while and then read it as a brand new story again… wait that’s something like ausing cone too, right?

Oh poor sweetie, Charley had to wear the cone of shame just recently and she was happy to give you tips on still drinking out of the toilet bowl whilst wearing it, or looking out of the car window wearing the cone and befuddle onlookers….no going for a hike and heaving breakfast is much nicer!! Woohoo for mom for being almost there with her story:onwards and upwards! xo Johanna

Thanks, J. Fridays and Wednesdays are all the same to me. Days of the week confuse me and give me a headache (kind of like math), so I don’t pay any attention to them at all. Charley has special cone-wearing talents. My best skill was whacking the vertical blinds and sending them sliding over so I could watch out the window for the evil, deranged mailman.

It WAS uncomfortable, F! It didn’t help me hear or catch squirrels, but wouldn’t that be a great invention? A squirrel-hunting cone. Like rodent-radar!

I’m glad you’re almost all better. That cone is nothing to be ashamed of but it must make it tough getting around corners! And I’m more than sure that mom’s story will be up to par in no time. Then I can read it and tell her I love it like all of her other hole-in-one stories. (See what I did there?) 😍
Yes, G. I see what you did there! Corners were a tough lesson for the first few days of cone strategy. Some turns took a few tries, but soon I was zooming and flying like normal, cone and all. Mom says I was a trooper.

Glad the cone of shame is off – I hate those things too. But crunchy peanut butter – yum! You might want (ok, need) to stay inside instead of frolicking in the great outdoors and maybe getting the allergies back. Going out to breakfast (Mickey D’s!) sounds best to me. Of course. 🙂 This could be your chance for french fries!!

I get allergies…to wheat…Mom has to read everything before she can feed it too me. I do understand!
Simba also used to hate his cone, but in the end it’s all for the better. Even with the cone on, you still are as cute as a button Cupcake. I am just glad you are doing all better now. Allergies are yucky things to have. Please tell mom the photos are as beautiful as ever. 😀 ♥

Oh you poor puppy! Allergies really stink. I hope the meds have made you all well and ready to go on your next big adventure.
Is it possible for you to take an allergy pill? There are some I think that are safe for dogs, it might help and keep you from having flare ups, especially if they are seasonal.

Allergies stink! Just ask Kali, she has been allergic to commercial cat food most of her life. She knows itchy too. Mom likes the idea of the cone of shame for when Kali’s allergies get bad and she keeps scratching, causing clouds of cat fur to rise in the livingroom.

“Clouds of cat fur” sounds glorious. I always try to produce clouds of fur, but Mom keeps vacuuming and Swiffering so I can’t get any headway. Poor Kali – being allergic to any kind of food is a hardship. Food is delicious.

So sorry to learn that you had to wear a cone, too, Cupcake! Jazmine wore one for almost two weeks, but we pretended it was a Bo Peep collar & felt much better about it as a result. Almost like we were getting ready for Halloween, but we are not at all ready for that (although cooler weather would be rather refreshing).
Congrats to Mom on the Rate Your Story score! We dream of scores that high!

I’m so sorry you had to wear the cone for a while, Cupcake, but I’m so glad you’re feeling better now! I like Bubba’s renaming to Cone of Fame too. If I ever have to wear one again, that’s what my family will call it. I can sympathize with your allergies – I have them too. My vet says we white-haired dogs with pink skin tend to be more sensitive to allergens – just my luck! 😉

Those cones are tough. If we humans had to wear them they would be outlawed pronto. Allergies are another bad thing. The sneezing, the dripping, the red eyes. Did I mention the dripping (nose). What a mess. So sorry you had to go through all of that, Cupcake. But on the bright side, your Mama may have a new story to sell. Who-hoo!
