Five Word Friday

Today’s five words are about being sick. Sort of… Not really…

IMG_7900

Cone – I have been wearing the cone of shame for a week.

FullSizeRender

I wasn’t really sick, but I had some allergies and couldn’t stop biting and scratching my tummy. The cone (and some medicine) made me better.

FullSizeRender4

Mmmm… Peanut butter! Wait. What?

Story-itis – One of Mom’s stories was feeling under the weather. Not really sick, but not up to par. Mom bit it and scratched it…. Not really. She actually fixed it and changed it A LOT and made it better.

Vet – The vet checked me out and pronounced me good to go.

vetscared

RatingRate Your Story checked out Mom’s story and pronounced it ALMOST good to go. It’s just a little too long.

Cutting – Mom is cutting words like crazy out of her story before she sends it anywhere. We hope it’ll have a happy and successful trip when it’s ready.

Editing_Clip_Art_Phillip_Martin

Trip – We are cutting out the cone of shame and soon I’ll take my last pill. Then I’ll be ready for a happy and successful trip, too.

Road trip!

Road trip!

Maybe to the park.

Or hiking.

Or the reservoir.

Or to breakfast.

  1. You look cute in the cone of FAME, but it’s a little unruly to manage. When Bella & Beary were both wearing one they were like a slapstick comedy!! Hope your allergies are better soon and your mumma’s story is too! x

    • I like how you think, MJ. Cone of Fame sounds so much better than Cone of Shame. My cone fit well, and I managed it nicely after a few bumps and miscalculations….

      Love and licks,
      C

  2. Oh no Cupcake!!!! you poor sweetie..i am so glad that cone of shame has gone..and i do hope Mum did not wear a cone while cutting and slicing her story! i bet when finished it will be grand..and we bet that the trips out to breakfast will be better with both you and Mum having a lovely time chatting and chewing 🙂 loves Fozziemum xxx

  3. Oh gosh Cupcake……the cone huh? Well, I hope the pills did the trick and you have no more itchies! A bit of a trip to celebrate would be swell – breakfast out might mean bacon could accidentally get dropped on the ground and could accidentally get eaten by somebody I know and love who is totally adorable and at long last “cone-less” !!!!

    Hugs, Sammy

    • Thanks S. Mom only eats bacon when she’s out, so I am always hopeful that some drops on the ground. Ditto some egg, some pancake, or a potato or two or six.

      Love and licks,
      C

  4. I hope that allergies run away from you soon and you can put that loudspeaker away fur ever, Cupcake. A story-itis is a difficult case, maybe Agatha Christie’s treatment will work? Put it in a chest and furget it for a while and then read it as a brand new story again… wait that’s something like ausing cone too, right?

    • Thanks, E. That Agatha person had the right idea. Mom’s story had been in a virtual chest for a bit when she dug it out and decided to make it work. Agatha should be famous. Wait. What???

      Love and licks,
      C

  5. Oh poor sweetie, Charley had to wear the cone of shame just recently and she was happy to give you tips on still drinking out of the toilet bowl whilst wearing it, or looking out of the car window wearing the cone and befuddle onlookers….no going for a hike and heaving breakfast is much nicer!! Woohoo for mom for being almost there with her story:onwards and upwards! xo Johanna
ps Charley asks why it is Five words Friday on Wednesday???

    • Thanks, J. Fridays and Wednesdays are all the same to me. Days of the week confuse me and give me a headache (kind of like math), so I don’t pay any attention to them at all. Charley has special cone-wearing talents. My best skill was whacking the vertical blinds and sending them sliding over so I could watch out the window for the evil, deranged mailman.

      Love and licks,
      C

  6. Can you hear better with that thing on? Are you hearing squirrels better? Can you still run and jump with it on? woof, looks uncomfortable

    • It WAS uncomfortable, F! It didn’t help me hear or catch squirrels, but wouldn’t that be a great invention? A squirrel-hunting cone. Like rodent-radar!

      Love and licks,
      C

  7. I’m glad you’re almost all better. That cone is nothing to be ashamed of but it must make it tough getting around corners! And I’m more than sure that mom’s story will be up to par in no time. Then I can read it and tell her I love it like all of her other hole-in-one stories. (See what I did there?) 😍

    • Yes, G. I see what you did there! Corners were a tough lesson for the first few days of cone strategy. Some turns took a few tries, but soon I was zooming and flying like normal, cone and all. Mom says I was a trooper.

      Love and licks,
      C

  8. Poor Cupcake. Sending you some healing piggy vibes. We could have all decorated and signed your cone of shame. That would have made it special and something to be proud of my friend 🙂 Hope your itching goes away soon. Love you! XOXO – Bacon

    • Thanks, B. My itchy spot is all gone. Signing and decorating my cone would’ve been a great idea. I probably would’ve looked adorable in it….

      Love and licks,
      C

      • I know you would have looked absolutely gorgeous in it my beautiful friend! I’m glad you are feeling better – just in time for a LONG weekend. XOXO – Bacon

  9. Glad the cone of shame is off – I hate those things too. But crunchy peanut butter – yum! You might want (ok, need) to stay inside instead of frolicking in the great outdoors and maybe getting the allergies back. Going out to breakfast (Mickey D’s!) sounds best to me. Of course. 🙂 This could be your chance for french fries!!

    • Oh, L. From your doggie-lips to God’s ears. One of these days, MickeyD’s will be conquered. My birthday is coming up….. So maybe…..

      Love and licks,
      C

  10. Whew, those cones are the worst. Glad that’s done with.

  11. Allergies! Those things can really be the pits. I’m glad you are feeling better, Cupcake. Boomer

  12. Simba also used to hate his cone, but in the end it’s all for the better. Even with the cone on, you still are as cute as a button Cupcake. I am just glad you are doing all better now. Allergies are yucky things to have. Please tell mom the photos are as beautiful as ever. 😀 ♥

    • Thanks, S. I’m glad you noticed that I remained cute as a button through this trauma. Mom said it made me look more pathetic than usual, which she didn’t think was even possible!

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Awwww, you can never look pathetic Cupcake. I think mom was just feeling sorry for you and I think that is why she was thinking so. 😆

Thanks for the love and licks. Lots of love and hugs for you. ♥

  13. So sorry you had to wear the cone of shame… been there done that ..it was poo
I’m sure your Mom will be the master of the story, she sound like she has everything under control taking a knife to it LOL
    Take care buddy
    Love Big Oscar

    • Thanks, O. I hope you weren’t wearing the cone for too long. That thing can cramp a doggie’s style big time.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Mine wasn’t so much a cone as a lampshade due to my big fat head …Mrs P’s words not mine, hope your Mom was ruthless with her story and now it’s perfect 🙂

  14. Ughhhh! Allergies are the worst! The look on your face says it all, Cupcake. I hope you feel better soon and that your mom’s story gets published! *ear licks* Noodle

    • Thanks, N. You are a great positive thinker. I did turn the sad-face switch to MAX with the cone on. More treats and cuddles that way.

      Love and licks,
      C

  15. Marty the Manx said:

Oh those nasty allergies *sigh* Mazie had to be on antibiotic and ear wash and drops because of them. Glad you are done with that cone! Hope Mommie’s story is a hit!
    Luvs
    Marty and Mom

    • Thanks, M &M. Ugh! Poor Mazie! Ear medicine is the worst. It’s not even delicious!! At least antibiotics come with peanut butter or cream cheese.

      Love and licks,
      C

  16. I once had to wear the cone of shame for over a week…so I feel your pain, Cupcake. ~Ernie

  17. You handled the cone much better than Archie. He thinks he’s done something wrong. Glad you’re feeling better.

    • Thanks, P. Poor Archie. The cone is a lot like a spanking, I guess. Plus it’s always best to use the most pathetic face when wearing it.

      Love and licks,
      C

  18. We vote for breakfast. Sofie is on itch medicine too. No cone so far for her. Glad you are better.

  19. So happy you are feeling better and the cone is history! A road trip sounds like fun, especially if it ends with breakfast!

  20. Good to hear you are out of the cone of shame! Choppy hasn’t needed to wear it yet, but I am sure it cannot be pleasant.

  21. Oh you poor puppy! Allergies really stink. I hope the meds have made you all well and ready to go on your next big adventure.

Is it possible for you to take an allergy pill? There are some I think that are safe for dogs, it might help and keep you from having flare ups, especially if they are seasonal.

    • Thanks, J. Mom will check with the vet next time we’re there. We’re hoping it’s just a summer thing and it’s over and done with for now. BTW – the cone is still in the closet. I saw it there. *gulp*

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Oh no, Cupcake you have to find a way to destroy the cone! I think my vet had me give Sampson some Zyrtec (but don’t hold me to that.) Good luck!

  22. Allergies stink! Just ask Kali, she has been allergic to commercial cat food most of her life. She knows itchy too. Mom likes the idea of the cone of shame for when Kali’s allergies get bad and she keeps scratching, causing clouds of cat fur to rise in the livingroom.

    Shoko

    • “Clouds of cat fur” sounds glorious. I always try to produce clouds of fur, but Mom keeps vacuuming and Swiffering so I can’t get any headway. Poor Kali – being allergic to any kind of food is a hardship. Food is delicious.

      Love and licks,
      C

  23. Oh we are so sorry Cupcake. Glad you are a little better. Those allergies are not any fun at all. Tell your Mom that our Mom is going to investigate that ‘Rate your story’ site. She has always wanted to write a book.

    • Thanks, M. Rate Your Story is fun and very helpful. Plus it’s free, unless you want to be a Pro-member. Good luck!

      Love and licks,
      C

  24. So sorry to learn that you had to wear a cone, too, Cupcake! Jazmine wore one for almost two weeks, but we pretended it was a Bo Peep collar & felt much better about it as a result. Almost like we were getting ready for Halloween, but we are not at all ready for that (although cooler weather would be rather refreshing).

Congrats to Mom on the Rate Your Story score! We dream of scores that high!

    • Thanks, P. BoPeep is kind of sweet. Mom thought I looked like Astro, the dog from The Jetsons. Please do not say the word Halloween to me. I am very afraid of freaky-headed pumpkins, and that’s when they usually come out in my neighborhood and sometimes right in my very own hallway! *gulp*

      Love and licks,
      C

  25. hope you are much better now and ready for an adventure,xx Speedy

  26. Oh Honey, I don;t call it the cone of shame. There is no shame in wearing it to get better. Detractors are just jealous that they don’t have one too.

    • Thanks, KI. I would be glad to share my cone or give it away. Send some of those detractors over here! Hope you’re feeling fine.

      Love and licks,
      C

Let’s call the cone your cape and you are Super Cupcake with super itches! ❤

  28. Sweet Cupcake we are sorry you the bad itches caused from allergies. We are sure glad to know that you are better though. We hope those itchies stay away. Hugs and nose kisses

    • Thanks, Mags. So far, so good. I just have normal housekeeping to do on my tiny body. Nothing crazy. The cone is in the closet…. Whew!

      Love and licks,
      C

  29. So glad you’re feeling better, Cupcake. I hope you have a wonderful outing wherever you do. And what about that 2 from Rate Your Story??? Awesome!!! Please give Mom a paw-five for me!

  30. I hope your cone-times are behind you, Cupcake! 🙂
    Erik

  31. Im so glad you feeling better from your allergies Cupcake. 🌺

  32. I’m so sorry you had to wear the cone for a while, Cupcake, but I’m so glad you’re feeling better now! I like Bubba’s renaming to Cone of Fame too. If I ever have to wear one again, that’s what my family will call it. I can sympathize with your allergies – I have them too. My vet says we white-haired dogs with pink skin tend to be more sensitive to allergens – just my luck! 😉

    • Thanks, D. Darn that pinky skin and whitey furs! We’re doomed with this weakness, but thank goodness it comes along with lots of adorableness!

      Love and licks,
      C

  33. Those cones are tough. If we humans had to wear them they would be outlawed pronto. Allergies are another bad thing. The sneezing, the dripping, the red eyes. Did I mention the dripping (nose). What a mess. So sorry you had to go through all of that, Cupcake. But on the bright side, your Mama may have a new story to sell. Who-hoo!

    • Thanks, S. I’m feeling SO much better. But Mom stuck the cone in the closet. I think she has plans for the future… *gulp*

      Love and licks,
      C

  34. I hope your allergies are better now! I wish your mom success with her story.
When I had to wear a cone, it was so large that it was difficult to get through the doorways and my bipeds got lots of bruises on their legs from it!
