Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Countdown Wednesday

She finally did it! Mom brought me with her to a school visit. Well… It wasn’t actually a school visit where she had to talk to kids about being an author. She already talked to these kids a few weeks ago. On Monday, we were just picking something up and dropping something off for the kids.

We are counting down about our awesome school visit.

What Mom loved…

3. The teacher used to be Mom’s student a long time ago. Now she is a super-teacher.

That’s her. She’s the first one on the left in the pink jumper –  right next to Young-Mom.

2. The kids made a cute card for us to take home.

1. I was a good girl.

What I loved…

3. Everyone fussed and fussed over me.

2. Through the window, I spotted a playground with swings and slides.

1. Lots of kids gave me treats.

Over here, kids! Mom brought my treat pouch!

67. I ALMOST got to play in the playground. Then I got afraid. So Mom said the word, “Forget it.”

*gulp*

*gulp*

52. I relaxed in the back seat all the way home.

6. I didn’t take a street nap, but Mom let me rest for a few minutes in the parking lot.

I’m worn out from all that love. Plus my belly is full of treats.

21W. School visits are the BEST!

  1. That looks like so much fun! Is that your mumma with the long hair? She looks like a schoolgirl herself 🙂 x

  2. BOL! So we clicked on the class photo so we could take a better look at young-mom and her students…and do you know what that photo is labelled as?? “Nightmare” BOL!! OMD!! We just loved that!!
What a pawsome visit Cupcake and you looked smashing in your sailor dress.
    Wally & Sammy

    • Thanks, W and S. Ha! Mom uses that photo in one of her PowerPoint presentations. It’s called Nightmare because that sweet looking little girl brought a praying mantis egg case to school for show and tell and it hatched in the classroom overnight. When Mom got to school in the morning, there were BUGS EVERYWHERE! She had to “get rid of them” before the kids came in. ….yup – nightmare. Plus she wrote a story about it.

      Love and licks,
      Cupcake

You look like a real girly girl. Beautiful.

  4. Oh I agree with you, that was a fabulous event for a little girl :o) I like the card, the green guy looks a little li8ke my dad :o)

  5. Congratulations, Cupcake! Sounds like you had an awesome day!

  6. Well done Cupcake you are amazing xxx

  7. Oh fun!!!!! You sure looked adorable in your beautiful dress……no wonder the kids went nuts when they saw you…………that was a nice playground – I bet they had some swell swings too which you would have enjoyed. Oh well…next time maybe!!!

    Hugs, Sammy

    • Thanks, S. I THOUGHT I’d enjoy a swing, but as Mom says – the jackasses in my head had other ideas. You’re right. This one is an “Oh well…next time” sort of thing.

      Love and licks,
      C

  8. What a treat for you & the children & Mom, too, Cupcake! I hope someday that the youngest of my Pups will be as well behaved as you are & able to accompany me on school visits.

  9. Lovely sailor dress… love the dresses with ruffles! How fun to visit the school. Sorry you had the fear monster visit… you could have maybe had a swing! Maybe not the right kind of swings for a Cupcake. I think the BIG YELLOW tube slide thingy would have frightened me too!

    • Thanks, Pix. I never got close enough to see the swings, but I’m pretty sure the big yellow tube slide thingy was trying to kill me. Mom calls it jackasses in my head.

      Love and licks,
      C

You look SUPER in your sailor dress…. and that sounds like a grrrrreat time you had at the school.

  11. I know you must make those children super happy!

    • Thanks, D, C, and C. Most of the kids were really happy to see me. But one boy said he thought Mom was bringing cupcakes. Luckily, Mom did have a big box of Munchkins, so the kid didn’t starve to death waiting for cupcakes to arrive.

      Love and licks,
      C

  12. Cupcake, it sure looks and sounds like you had a really fun time at the school with the kids! Glad you were able to go along with your mom. I love your skirt, by the way! 🙂

  13. For a second I thought you guys somehow time traveled back to the class in that first photo, but visiting the class in modern times makes much more sense.

    • Ha! That would be something, W. That class was 800 years ago. The 2015 class is easier to visit.

      Love and licks,
      C

  14. What a fun visit, Cupcake. And you looked adorably fashionable in your pretty blue dress. Maybe your mom will take you more often (paws crossed). Hugs & tail wags from Sam

  15. Finally your patience paid off, Cupcake!
    1. You look beautiful in your sailor dress!
    17. I’m glad you got a lot of treats.
34G. You sure know how to relax 🙂
    12. I know all the kids loved you!!! 🙂

    • Thanks, S. Who knew that patience would pay off so royally? I may be the luckiest dog in the world. Mom said the word, “Never again.” That’s a good thing… Right…?

      Love and licks,
      C

  16. YES! Finally your mom brought you to school with her, Cupcake, and girl did you get rewarded 😀 We loved the nightmare….. 😀 and your sailor dress. No wonder that you’re worn out, after such a busy and lovingly day. Pawkisses for a great week ahead 🙂 ❤

    • Thanks, Little B. Two classes full of 5th graders do a LOT of petting and cuddling. It was glorious!

      Love and licks,
      C

  17. You lucky gal, Cupcake. I’m sure you were loved by everyone. 🙂

  18. School!!! WOW!!

  19. What a day, Cupcake!! It looks like it was lotsa fun.

    (((Shoko)))

  20. You are the goodest the girl EVER! (Is goodest a word?)
    And super cute!
    I remember THAT mom. 😉

    • Thanks, G. If goodest isn’t a word, then it SHOULD be. I can’t believe you were alive so long ago, when Mom was THAT Mom??? Wow!

      Love and licks,
      C

  21. I’m glad you were allowed to visit the school and had a good time. I’d love to do that!

    • Thanks, C. You would be SUCH a big hit at school. And you probably wouldn’t even be afraid of the playground….

      Love and licks,
      C

  22. YOU are adorable in your little dress. I’m so glad mom finally caved and brought you to school, I’m sure the children enjoyed it as much as you did.

    • Thanks, J. I am pretty sure the kids had fun – except the one who was expecting Mom to bring cupcakes instead of Cupcake. Oh well.

      Love and licks,
      C

  23. Looks like you had a great time Cupcake. And you got lots of treats which is terrific. Bet those kids loved seeing you. You all have a wonderful Friday.

    • Thanks, M. The treat supply was awesome! Everyone wanted to feed me. I did what I could to make them all happy….

      Love and licks,
      C

Cupcake, you darling! And tell mom that I (mom especially) really enjoyed the pictures,

  25. OMGosh, that old school class photo is so much like all of mine. The pointy collared shirts and brown lace up shoes are totally my elementary style. I wish I could meet up with my grade 6 teacher. His name was Mr Felstad. I remember him being fun. Once, we were talking about the Queen of England and I said, “But isn’t she really just a forehead?” Of course I meant ‘figurehead’ but Mr Felstad almost fell off his podium laughing. I think you look very much the same now, except for your hair. I wish we would have had a little visitor like Cupcake to share our class with. That would have sent me into a squeel of epic purportions. xoB

    • So funny, B. We LOVE teachers who laugh their heads off. You should track down Mr. Felstad and tell him how much you liked him. It would mean a lot. Mom wishes she had told her favorite teacher how much she had influenced her, but she didn’t and now it’s too late. She didn’t realize how important it was till her own former students came back and told Mom how she helped shape them.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Thanks for Cheering me on Cupcake. I wonder how I’d find him? Maybe visit the school again? I’m certain no one who was there woul. be there now. My gosh, if I was 11 or 12 then, Mr Felstad must be at least 75 or 80. I wonder if he’d remember me? hugs to you and mom tool

  26. Great lists, C! 😀

  27. Anywhere with treats can’t be bad at all!

  28. What a fun day, Cupcake! I can see why the kids gave you treats! You’re irresistible!

  29. What a sweet Cupcake! I love this so much! I saw your name on Bacon’s Piglove’s blog and I had to see this cupcake! How happy and sweet! This precious one made my day! I love Cupcakes! LOL

  30. Oh No Cupcake and Genevieve…I missed this post because wordpress has unfollowed me from your blog!!! I quickly turned wrong into right…I already wondered why I had not seen a new post and this had happened before with other blogs. Most annoying!!
But how lovely to see you in your pretty dress, and mom must be thrilled to meet up with a former pupil now teacher!!! Lovely, lovely post. and Charley lets you know she finds playgorunds also very scary! xo Johanna

  31. What a great trip! TREATS!!! Where do we sign up?
