Waiting and Waiting

Waiting is tough. It’s one more tough thing in my life along with the treat famine when I gain weight,

the mailman trying to kill me, and being afraid to walk past scary things like pumpkins, the UPS truck, and the always deadly, frightening coffee lid in the street.

Waiting is brutal. Here I am waiting for my turn to listen to a story at Read to a Pet Night at the library…

Am I next?

Am I next?

…waiting for Mom to carry me so I don’t have to walk in my paw boots , and…

…waiting for Mom to come home.

Mom entered a couple of stories in the Rate Your Story Writing Contest.

She also sent a story to an agent who showed interest in it during #PitMad on Twitter. Now she is waiting for results. For her the waiting is fun and exciting. She says, “Once you do your best, there’s nothing else to do.” and “Gotta be in it to win it.” and “Seriously?? It’s a cardboard chef! He’s not going to hurt you!”

  1. Cupcake, you are so right…waiting is hard. I waited for mom and dad for over 2 weeks….that was rough. Believe mom heard about it when she got home. I love the picture of you in your booties. You are one good looking woofie.

    Huggles,
    Shoko

    • Thanks, S. Two weeks is a tough wait. Wow! The longest I ever waited for Mom was 8 days when she was getting surgery. My friend’s mom took care of me. Plus I gained 3 pounds from treats!

      Love and licks,
      Cupcake

  2. I hate waiting, specially when it’s related to queries or pitches -_-

  4. I’m with you, Cupcake, the cardboard chef is creepy and you have every reason to be wigged out by him! 😉

  5. Cupcake, Waiting is torture! Especially for those of us on the impatient side. (Although it’s better than a rejection. At least, in the waiting mode, there’s still Sisyphusian (sp?) hope.) Keeping my paws crossed for your mom’s submissions. 🙂

  6. Hahaha! You always make me laugh out loud, Cupcake (Seriously, it’s a cardboard chef :)) Good luck to your mom with her waiting 🙂

  7. I’m with you on this one Cupcake. Waiting = Misery.

  8. I totally agree with you Cupcake. Waiting sucks and it’s boring. 😆
But I do love to see your ‘waiting’ photos. They are just magnificent and you are totally adorable and cute. 😀 ♥

    • Thanks, S. I try to stay cute and adorable while I’m waiting. You never know who might be watching. There’s a surveillance camera here….!

      Love and licks,
      C

      • hahaha! Wish I could look that cute and adorable. Luckily for the camera I like being behind it. 😆

  9. So how do you get on with those ‘shoes’ ? I dare not get Charlie and Bully some, it won’t last very long. Now that we are starting autumn I am even in 2 minds about winter coats for these 2. They are such delinquents…

    • I used to eat my coats when I first came here. Mom taught me to wear them nicely so I won’t shiver. I’m still working on wearing the boots nicely. They do keep the ice and rock salt from burning my feet, but they’re tricky. C and B might like them after all…

      Love and licks,
      C

  10. Sorry about the typing error.

  11. Yeah “waiting” and “weighing” are two very scary words which should not be used in the same sentence. Believe me, I’m intimately familiar with both those concepts.

  12. Waiting is NOT fun……but we do learn that our humans expect us to get used to waiting whether we like it or not! Cupcake I wouldn’t trust that cardboard chef either……I think that’s a FAKE smile on his face! BEWARE!

    Hugs, Sammy

  13. Waiting stinks Cupcake…i am sure you are sick of waiting for the mailman to quit his job and move to Florida….i am sure mum is very excited about waiting to hear about her work..and what the results will be ..and what they have to say..and yes that Chef is creepy indeed..he seems a little too jolly…just sayin..loves Fozziemum xxx

    • Yay, FM. Do you really think he’ll retire and go to Florida? Thank you. That gives me something to look forward to! Maybe he’ll take the chef with him.

      Love and licks,
      C

You are RIGHT…. Waiting is BRUTAL… it should be AGAINST the LAW.

  15. Cupcake there is a treat famine going on for me right now. The scale… *shudder*. I have to say, that is a darling bathroom 🙂 Waiting is tough but sometimes when you are waiting for a good thing the waiting is almost better than what you are waiting for… anticipation 😀 The cardboard chef guy gives me a little shiver too.

  16. I’m with you Cupcake… waiting is the worst thing on earth… and that cardboard chef is scary, of course… but only after midnight …when he walks around on his cardboard feet… I cross my paws that your mom hasn’t to wait too long for good news from that agent. :o)

  17. Fingers crossed for mom, Cupcake and here’s hoping your waiting isn’t that bad!!

  18. I’m sure Archie would agree with you Cupcake. Especially for the mailman and UPS truck — there’s always a treat. Good luck to your mom. Are you planning your entry for the Erma Bombeck contest next Jan. 2016? Have never entered because I’m not funny.

Tell your mom to get a copy of “The Thirteenth Gift” by Joanne Huist Smith, released in 2014. It’s an adult book written by a local author who has Erma’s sense of humor. Both my husband and I laughed til we cried at this very moving and inspiring story about grief. I will be gifting this book to everyone I know this year. Made #5 on NYT Religous/Spiritual books.

    • Thanks, P. Mom and I will look into that book AND that contest. Laughing is way more fun than waiting. Maybe Archie can help you enter. He is funny like me!

      Love and licks,
      C

  19. I hope your waiting turns out with a win AND a published book!

  20. Waiting is the worst! P.S. I love your dress and even your paw boots 😀

  21. Waiting can be a bore – time slows down!
That cardboard chef does look a bit manic – watch out, Cupcake!

  22. Life can be really hard for a little dog. So much waiting 🙂

  23. You are so stylish and pretty whilst waiting, Cupcake, and good luck to mom!!! We will keep fingers and paws crossed her ! xo Johanna and Charley.

  24. Mom is right C – You gotta be in it to win it! but I think the chef is a bit creepy. 😉 When Clyde waits – he just falls asleep.

  25. I’m with you. Waiting. UGH! I’m waiting for things to get back to normal – whatever that may be and, dang, that could be a long wait. In the mean time, don’t let those cardboard creeps creep you out. Oh and I heard about that #PitMad submission and the results and that don’t know what she’s missin’. #PityFul

    • Ick – that AGENT don’t know what she’s missin’. #cantypeworthalick

      • Thanks, G. Deep down, you know there’s no normal. There’s just now. Don’t wait for the sun. Dance in the rain. If you don’t, you may never dance. Mom is not discouraged about the rejection. She’s already planning to resubmit someplace else. Rejection is the normal around here. But we dance anyway. Well…. She makes ME dance, anyway…. #vine xoxo

        Love and licks,
        C

      • I know. I saw the video. 👍❤️🐶💃

  26. Cupcake, you’ll have to take a lesson in waiting from your mum. Excited for you Genevieve, hope you don’t have to wait long to receive great news from the agent. 🙂

  27. Good luck with everything. I love your coats and paw shoes.

Cupcake you look very cute in your boots – do you ever walk bare paw? We’ve never worn anything on our paws and Mum goes ouch if the are very cold and we put our paws on her to get them warm when we come flying in.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

    • Thanks, H and L. I do walk barepaw, but I needed the shoes so rock salt and ice wouldn’t burn my feet. Isn’t it fun making your mom say ouch? Moms love surprises like that.

      Love and licks,
      C

  29. Waiting makes me sleepy, Cupcake *yawns* , but looking at your waiting pictures makes me smile. Good Luck to your mom. We almost can’t wait for the results! Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 ❤

    • Thanks, Little B. Sometimes I sleep while I wait, but mostly I stay alert for danger and so I don’t miss a minute of Mom’s arrival back home.

      Love and licks,
      C

  30. PAAALEEEASE let me know the results!!! I am glad you have Cupcake to keep you calm!!! Or is it the other way around?????hum…..

  31. Cupcake, that cardboard chef looks scary to us too. And our Mom hates to wait too. It is a really hard thing to do. Sorry to read in the comments that the answer was no to your sent in item. You all have a great week end.

Have to tell you darling, mommy and I LOVED LOVED LOVED this blog especially a lot. You in your outfits is the big draw and you and your concerns for the coffee lid and the chef and pumpkins and the mailman too? What a barrage of scary things to endure, you delicate flower! Love and smoochies to you, sweet baby! xox

    Nice post once for cupcake

  34. I think the solution is straightforward: your mom should take on your portion of waiting. Anything else would be zigzagbackward.

  35. That’s funny stuff……errr I mean, “oh no! Not the coffee lid again, eeeeeek”. You’re so right, it can be a scary world out there for little gals like you. We love seeing the UPS guy at work because we know he’s bringing new scrapbook stuff to the store! It’s like Christmas on those days, weeeeeeeee! xoxox Boomdee
