Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Prizes

I have been awarded a couple of prizes by my bloggy friends recently. My Quirky Writer friend named Sandra thinks I’m Really Neat.

Neat Blog Award

And one of my doggie friends named Noodle thinks I’m Inspiring!

inspiring award

Thanks, friends! I think you are neat and inspiring, too!

For the Inspiring Award, I must tell 7 things about myself.

1. I like getting dressed up because it usually means something fun is going to happen.

dressed up

82. I shiver when I am cold, afraid, or when Mom is about to leave me alone to live her life for a while.

cold

35. I was afraid of my toybox for 5 years, but now I can actually take out a toy or 2 or 58.

digging

941. Sometimes, I need a toy to help me sleep.

7. Mom bought a PetziConnect camera to check on me when she’s gone.

I’m afraid of it. I’m pretty sure it wants to kill me.

I’m not sure when the checks or the prizes will arrive for these awards, but I can’t wait. Wait. What? Oh. No checks. No prizes. But certainly feel free to share these with me if you don’t already have them.

For some reason, Mom DOESΒ think I’m inspiring,

but does NOT think I’m neat. Go figure….

Every writer needs inspiration. I am that for her. But when I am not enough, she leaves me here and gets out into the world, sometimes in a school or with other humans

Human friends...

…or in a spot that will give her ideas or will let ideas float into her head.

Personally, I get ideas from this.

  1. Congratulations on the pawsome awards Cupcake. Now, about that Petziconnect thingy, please tell us more about it, we think mom & dada should get us one so that they can see all the fun they are missing out on when they are at work and we’re at home.
We’re glad to hear that you have gotten over your fear of the toy box, isn’t is wonderful to be able to rootle though it and pull out what YOU want and not what your mom THINKS you want?
    BIG licks,
    Wally & Sammy

    • Thanks W and S. I’m proud of my toybox courage. The camera seemed like a good idea at the time. On the Petzi App Mom can watch me, call me, and pop treats out of the bottom of the camera. I LOVE it…when she’s here with me. But when she leaves, I ignore the camera and won’t even eat the treats till she gets back. Mom says she should’ve saved her money. Check it out when it works with “normal” dogs. http://www.petzila.com

      Love and licks,
      C

  2. Charlie now has a new best friend and they are busy busy busy. Just pass out in front of tv after supper in the evening.

  3. Oh Cupcake….not a murdulating camera! I am sure mum just cannot get enough of your inspiring self and therefore HAS to have you with her virtually..it may not be a bad thing.after all if the toybox does turn on you you will have proof! lovely pics of mum πŸ™‚ even if she has left you to shiver πŸ™‚ loves Fozziemum xxx

    • Thanks and thanks, FM – from both of us. You may be right about the toybox. I do climb in there sometimes to look for the perfect toy, but I don’t completely trust that thing. I may need the camera as evidence in case things turn ugly.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • You can never have too much back up Cupcake πŸ™‚ and toyboxes are notorious for holding your fave toy hostage! loves Fozziemum xxx

  4. Congrats to your awards! I’m sure you are an inspiration and you are a guarantor for good mood :o) and yes, I agree with you, such things like a spy cam are dangerous…. they first read our minds and then they eat us…. be careful or bring it to that mud puddle…

  5. MOL πŸ˜€ Cupcake you made us MOL on this stormy morning..you’re so funny girl and you so deserve both of the awards. Congratulations πŸ™‚ That camera must be so annoying, you never can horsing around anymore with that thing being in the way. I guess you have to show it your teeth and roar like…moi πŸ˜€ Warm Pawkisses for an inspiring day πŸ™‚

Congrats and Momwithoutpaws and I think you are neat as well cupcake

  7. Uhoh…..a spy camera huh? You realize this means you can’t be naughty when Mom’s away right? She’ll have PROOF on film….this is not good….but one thing I can promise – it’s not gonna murder you, just SPY on you! As for the awards – they’re fabulous but I do think money or treats SHOULD be involved……I sure do.

    Hugs, Sammy

    • Thanks, S. Great minds think alike. Mom said the chair cushions are probably NOT jumping off the chairs themselves. Whenever the camera watches me, I stay real still so nobody will suspect me as the culprit.

      Love and licks,
      C

  8. Congrats on the awards Cupcake! What a talented and love giving doggie you are. Hopefully you will become less and less scared of the world around you but you have one lovely mom to comfort you. And Charley is very affraid of a tape measurer and brown paper bags…we all have our quirks! And Charley does not like to roll in mud…I never had dog that felt herself to dainty to roll or ven step in mud. xoxo Johanna

    • Thanks, J. I never thought to be afraid of the tape measure and the brown paper bags. *gulp* But maybe Charley knows something I don’t know. I’ll add them to my list of fears…

      Love and licks,
      C

  9. Sam & I think you’re real neat and inspiring too but mostly just plain ‘pawsome.’ Well done and well deserved, Cupcake. πŸ™‚

  10. Aren’t you lucky to be so neat and inspiring!!

    xxxx

  11. Frankie and Ernie said:

We would not think much of that SPY EYE camera either.
    Congrats on the award.

  12. Yay for mud puddles!!!

  13. Congrats Cupcake on your awesome awards! Don’t worry about that spy camera – – just dance as if no one is watching!

  14. Yay, Cupcake! Awards are wonderful things to receive. You and your mom deserve them. πŸ™‚

  15. Congratulations! You and mom are both well deserving of awards prize or no prize. But I think the prizes the awards isn’t it? Anyway, your mom’s friend is cute LOL. And don’t be so afraid of everything life’s too short. Sending hugs…

  16. Well, congratulations on those fine awards! Well done! Does that camera follow you around everywhere? That would be creepy.

    • Thanks, R. The camera doesn’t follow me, but it stares at me a lot. Mom tells me it’s not polite to stare. I guess it’s OK for the camera, though….

      Love and licks,
      C

  17. Congratulations on the awards Cupcake you and your mom deserve them. Ya, even your mom…she does stuff too. Too bad a nice meaty bone or some treats didn’t come with it but hey…..winning it is the main event. It does my heart good to know you are afraid of some weird things too….I don’t feel as alone. Loved hearing about the you behind the scenes.

    (((Shoko)))

  18. Great awards. I think your mom needs to write a series about you — she sure knows your voice!

  19. You deserve all these awards and more!!! Dad saw your pics and still says if you ever come to our neck of the woods he will have to “borrow” you for a few days…. months.. years… he thinks you are beautiful Cupcake! πŸ™‚

  20. hehehehe you got to make a bit of mess sometimes just for fun Cupcake,xx Speedy

  21. Congratulations on your awards! Harlow agrees – the mud puddle would be very inspiring!

    Monty and Harlow

  22. Congratulations, Cupcake. I can’t believe your mom told you that the awards come without money and prizes. Obviously, she’s keeping them all to herself. Better train that sneaky camera on her to see what she’s up to.

    • Thanks, Miss. HL. I didn’t think of that. Mom does like to be in charge of the money around here…. Hmmmm… We need evidence.

      Love and licks,
      C

  23. Well deserved awards, Cupcake! I hope your mom gave you a special treat to celebrate. ❀

  24. Cupcake, I bet the people at the VA hospital simply adore being able to spend time with you. I bet you aren’t any happier about your Mom leaving to visit her human friends than I am when Mom L does that. Do you know if they make a leash for humans?

    • Brilliant! That’s exactly what we need, S. Human leashes. We can’t just let our moms come and go as they please.

      Love and licks,
      C

  25. I don’t know whether you’re neat or inspiring, C, but to me – you’re still awesome! πŸ˜€

  26. As always, I just love the pics mom takes of you Cupcake. You are just so adorable! I also love to see you ‘dress-up’. You do have quite a selection of beautiful dresses and great taste as well. πŸ˜€

Congrats on all the neat awards. You and mom truly deserve it. πŸ˜€

I am so glad you’re not so afraid of your toybox anymore. Simba would be able to show you how he ‘attacks’ one for sure. πŸ˜†

Now isn’t that PetziConnect cam a wonderful invention? I think all pet owners who work or go out for a while should have that installed in their homes. You are so lucky to have such a caring and loving mom, and don’t worry, it won’t kill you. It’s just making sure you’re okay. πŸ˜€

I think you’re inspiring as well Cupcake. Not only at the VA, but here at the blogs as well. You certainly brightened up my day and it’s not often that I talk so much. It’s all the beautiful pictures of you that is inspiring me and I love the pic of mom with her human friend and the one on the bench is just as beautiful. You do have such a gorgeous lady for a mom indeed, nearly as gorgeous as you are Cupcake. πŸ˜€

Simba also gets inspired by spots like that, especially mud puddles. πŸ˜†

Take care, have a grand day and β™₯ Lots of Hugs β™₯ for you and mom.

    • Thanks, S. Simba is brave and courageous! That toybox was a tough nut to crack for me. Demon toys would squeak and squawk every time I went near it. I have finally conquered it. I wish Simba and I could go mud-wading.

      Love and licks,
      Cupcake

      • You’re very welcome Cupcake and I am sure your mom will never buy you toys that will hurt you, in any case. You just have to trust her. I know it’s not easy, but I know you can. πŸ˜€

I am very glad to hear that. Next time you must scare the demons out of them. πŸ˜†

I am sure Simba wishes the same Cupcake. Mom and I will just sit and watch the two of you and take photos. LOL!

        β™₯ Love & Hugs β™₯

  27. Congrats on your awards Cupcake!! Come to my house, I’ll take you walking in the woods. πŸ˜‰ and mud puddles, I love mud puddles!!

  28. I’m with you! I love the friend thing…since I lost Fuzzy I enjoy having friends stop by!

  29. Cupcake, you are just too cute. Congrats on your awards. That is terrific. You all have a wonderful day.

  30. Big congrats on your awards Cupcake!

  31. Hey! Way to go Cupcake and mom. Well there otta be a ‘Prince Charming’ award and you would win that one too. You look very dashing in your jacket and those puppy eye’s get the girls every time I bet. I should Google that pet camera. Very interesting stuff. I always wonder what goes on when I’m not home. I think they might just sleep all day though, cats are that way. xo K Happy Tuesday!

  32. Congratulations on your awards,Cupcake!
That mud puddle looks good, although I’d prefer a larger one!

  33. As a little prize for your inspirational work, I think you deserve a PetziConnect camera to check on your mom when she’s gone, don’t you!?

  34. Cupcake, wonderfully done on your awards! I had a spy cam once. I snorted and squealed enough that they took it down. Might be some advice for you πŸ™‚

  35. You are really neat! Congratulations on your Very Inspiring Blogger Award too. How long does it take you to write a children’s story? What age group do you write for?

    • Mom writes picture books. They can be from about age 4-8. Usually she writes from beginning to end in a week or two, but then she revises for about a month.

      Love and licks,
      C

      • Interesting. Although I predominantly like to write non-fiction, I like writing picture books for 3-5 years. I have an awesome story, that publishers like, apart from it’s in rhyme and they won’t publish it in rhyme, because it’s hard sell the foreign rights. They don’t always get the end point, but feel it should end sooner. What’s your formula and top tips for someone like me?

      • Ha! If Mom had a secret formula, she wouldn’t be struggling to get her next book noticed by a publisher or an agent!

      • I am sure you will succeed. You are determined to do it, no matter what. Xx
