Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Five Word Friday

5 cards

Today’s 5 words are about forgetting.

1. Rollerblades – Somebody forgot about their rollerblades at the park. I tried to encourage Mom to give them a spin, but she wasn’t interested.

Wanna race?

Wanna race?

2. Dinner – Forgetting my dinner is just plain wrong on all levels. I save this face for those occasions when dinner is “a little late.”

wheres dinner

Not cool…

3. Ideas – Mom has so many lists of story ideas, that she sometimes forgets what she wrote. She gets very surprised when she looks down the lists. She says, “This sounds fun.” and “This is genius.” and “Ugh! WHAT was I thinking?” and “Forget it. You’ve had enough treats for one day.”

treats please

4. Rules – Once in a while I forget the rules, especially the rule called don’t-mess-with-Christmas-stuff.

house huhtree trouble

5. Chairs – Mom has been busy decorating and shopping after the painters got finished and decorating and shopping for our new furniture and decorating and shopping before Christmas comes.

shopping

So lots of times, she forgets to sit in her chair and work on writing, because of too much decorating and shopping.

I may have to take over this chair….

92. Chairs – That being said, sometimes, I completely forget how chairs work….

  1. Forget it, you’ve had enough treats for today? I think we need to give your mom a little re-education. Tell her she’s forgotten that dogs are supposed to get all the treats they want. I need to re-educate my person too. She’s always forgetting that.

  2. I like to wriggle under chairs, preferably benches – I can only get half of me under a chair like the one you’re using. My cats like to sleep like you are in the second picture. If I gave that a try I’d probably knock the chair over!
Wish your mom good luck with all that decorating for me!

  3. how can a dog have enough treats? that’s a miracle… The rollerblades are great, your mom could use them for shopping, then she is as fast as a lightning and you haven’t to wait for your dinner :o)

    • You’re so smart, E. What a problem solver! If only Mom didn’t have wiggly balance, we could make this happen…

      Love and licks,
      C

  4. Hi Cupcake! Rules – we all just have so many rules don’t we? I kind of thought Christmas stuff was perfect for playing with but my Mom doesn’t think so either – “no touching the tree” is a big rule but now that I’m older than dirt I don’t play with it anymore. I do like to get on top of a chair back and take a snooze – so I was happy to see that you like that too!!! I think you need to tell your Mom the rule that “adorable animals get special treats every single day”……..right?

    Hugs, Sammy

    • You know it, S. There’s a lot to be said for adorable-ness. Mom always says I’m more of a kitten than a dog. Maybe she’s got a point….

      Love and licks,
      C

  5. Cupcake…Charley is wild about your Christmas collar, soooo stylish! Now I have to make one. Your face when dindin is late: priceless! You can stare down burglars..if ever they dare to come close to the house! Have a lovley day and say hello to mom, Johanna

    • Thanks, J. Good luck making a Christmas collar for Charley. Mom says my collar brings out the intensity in my eyes. I guess I look intense when I’m thinking, “Click the camera and gimme a treat for crying out loud.”

      Love and licks,
      C

  6. Whee just love the pigture for number three ^_^

    xxxx

  7. What a great description of your days with mom. I too sometimes forget to sit ON the chair and not UNDER it or balance on the back of it….its an anipal thing. Chase your mom away from the treats….she doesn’t need to know how they taste to write about them…shoo mom!

    (((Shoko)))

    • You’re right, S. If I could figure out how to open the treat jar, Mom could have the day off. I could choose my own goodies.

      Love and licks,
      C

Momwithoutpaws went to see Riley without me and then when she came home she was to busy for me what is with our nonpawparents

  9. Those are some great words for the day, well except the rules one. I don’t like to follow them. Ever.

  10. Love your Christmas photo, Cupcake! Sometimes we humans get too distracted and forget important things like feeding. I’m used to leaving dry food out for Archie, but didn’t notice it was eaten. He hopped on my lap, faced me, and just stared. I had just let him out and I couldn’t figure out what he was trying to tell me. Then I remembered — I forgot to feed him. Hubby gone and I just snacked at dinner. Archie likes to eat wen I eat. So Mom’s get out of routines — and you always know how to communicate and keep us on track.:)

    • Ha! Poor Archie! That must’ve been one of those days when he wished he could talk human. He would’ve given you a piece of his mind! I’m glad you got the message.

      Love and licks,
      C

  11. Chairs, they get me every time.

  12. You sure are looking Christmas Spiffy!!! I don’t get why the folks put out all that enticing, fun Christmassy stuff and then make unbelievable rules about it! It’s just not right. I hope your Mom doesn’t forget about you while she’s doing all that shopping!!

    • Thanks, R. Don’t worry – every time Mom comes home with bags, she puts them on the floor so I can check them over and see how she did. We’re a good team that way…

      Love and licks,
      C

  13. You look so cute in your holiday header Cupcake! Gotta get Mama on things like that! WoO!

    • Thanks, K. Be careful what you wish for. Next thing you know, you and your sister will be wearing Santa hats or antlers….

      Love and licks,
      C

  14. It looks like Christmas on your blog Cupcake…and I like it..you.. 😀 Pawkisses…and 5 Extra in case I forget one 😉 ❤

OMD Cupcake that LATE SUPPER FACE… is CLASSIC.
HEY… you can use a chair ANY WAY you WANT… it is called being ARTISTIC.

  16. Oh cupcake, you crack me up. You’d make a great writer the way you sit in front of moms computer. 😀

  17. You are hysterical behind that computer! Don’t forget to smile for the camera. 😁

    • Thanks, G! Smiling is tricky for me. I’m self-conscious of my buck teeth. I smile with my eyes though. #smize

      Love and licks,
      C

  18. Using a chair as a sunshade is a stroke of genius Cupcake! x

Oh P, you have made mine and mom’s day. We love your header and we love all your pictures illustrating how you train your mom! Purrfect!

  22. I have to jot things down, call myself and leave messages….it’s easy to forget. LOL

  23. We’re big on number 4 around here. We forget them all the time.

  24. Rules are made to be broken! There’s ALWAYS room for another treat.

  25. Anywhere with cushion, blanket or my dressing gown then Archie will sleep on it 🙂 . Merry Christmas xxx

  26. What a clever way to remind us about forgetting. Loved all the pics too cause you’re adorable in every way. Where up, on or over the decor, computer or chairs. I spotted your nutty doggy dish. I should get something like that to slow me down, LOL.

  27. […] – When Mom’s list of thirty PiBoIdMo ideas is finished, some will make amazing stories, some will become poems, and some will be stale, dried up leftovers. It happens. Sometimes when Mom […]
