Change of Scenery

Sometimes a doggie needs a change of scenery. New chair,

hotel chair

new bed,

hotel bed

new place.

hotel sheet

Yeah. That happened. While there were painters at my house trying to kill me, Mom and I got out of the way and stayed at a hotel. It was a whole new place to be. It’s scary, but if you tuck in your tail and slick back your ears, you can get through it and even settle in, lie down, and rest up after a while.

A change of scenery is good for getting ideas.

sand field

Since Mom is up to her eyeballs in PiBoIdMo, she needs ideas to keep trickling into her head so they can be typed into the list on her phone. A change of scenery is the perfect way to make that happen. Sometimes it’s as simple as a walk in the park.

park bench

Sometimes it’s a ride in the car.

sunny car

Or shopping. Or the gym. Or a visit to the *gulp* vet

vetscared

or *yay* Petco.

Or a short-stay at a pet-friendly hotel.

hotel rest

As far as ideas go, change is good. And it can’t hurt to have a special idea-getting-coffee-mug …with a picture of an idea-getting-dog that looks suspiciously like ME!

Wait. What?

  1. Oh its like having a mini vacation but you haven’t gone far way ,cool Cupcake, and that mug is so you too!xx Speedy

  2. You must be one of the cutest little dogs is the world, Cupcake. You know what they say ” A change is as good as a holiday.” Lovely weekend to you and your mom ❀ 🐢

  3. You’re having quite an adventure, Cupcake! I love staying in new places.
That dog does look a lot like you, but not quite as cute. I hope the ideas are flowing well.

    • Thanks, C. Once Mom got me through the automatic doors into the lobby, the rest was easy. Ideas flowed for both of us!

      Love and licks,
      C

  4. What an adventure!!

  5. You have the bestest mum, it’s great that she helped you to escape from that painters… yes, they are dangerous, they can kill us and in worst case the paint us black… or red… or purple… A change of scenery is like the “reset” button of the computer, all things and all thoughts are fresh and like new :o)

    • Thanks, E. Mom was less afraid that the painters would paint me (that’s what I was afraid of). She was more afraid that I’d stick my tail in the paint and start painting with them – not in a good way.

      Love and licks,
      C

  7. I have been to the Drury Inn they are all pet friendly and nice place , there was a dog park near by we had fun

  8. Cupcake, Be sure to check out the room service. πŸ™‚ Enjoy and belated Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. Cute post. We had our house painted while on vacation. No stress on anyone. Cupcake, it’s good to try new things. Mom was there for you. Now you have to deal with the new smells of fresh paint. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Thanks, P. It’s not just the new paint smell – Mom is moving furniture and getting new stuff! This could get confusing. I hope she doesn’t get rid of the big chair. I’m going to need it to hide behind!

      Love and licks,
      C

  10. How nice that you and your Mom had a “getaway” even if it was just for a few days……ideas are good……I have an idea – why don’t I give you a GREAT BIG SQUEEZY HUG??!!
    ((((Cupcake))))………….

    Love, Sammy

  11. Excellent idea of your mom’s to get away from the scary painters. I would have been scared out of my mind Cupcake….you are my hero, even if you were scared…you did it.

    (((Shoko)))

    • Thanks, S. The hotel was peaceful and nobody tried to kill me. When you want to be brave, always stay close to your mom. That’s my secret weapon.

      Love and licks,
      C

  12. Looks like you’ve been exploring some cooleo places ^.^
    The Pigs xx

  13. Hmmm. New scenery, new adventures, and now when you get home you won’t even know it’s your home! I’ll bet your mom will have a book full of ideas after this! Way to have a fun Thanksgiving!

  14. YAY! You are getting your place all spiffed up just in time to start a new year…with new Ideas!

  15. Hi Cupcake, really glad to hear you got some pampering in while the painters were working. I loved all your photo’s. Especially the one where you were sitting so nice in the middle of the bed. Darn you ARE Q-ute. Staycations are almost like a vacation without the hassle of the airport. A very good thing I think.

  16. You always have the best posts, C! πŸ˜€

  17. Change is good. Not for me. Now that’s something that scares me. But it’s good for ideas for sure. Just ask that dog on the mug. #LoveinTheKeurig #minivacation

    • Mom loves change. That’s why she’s changing around everything in the house. I hope she doesn’t bring me out to the dumpster and buy a new dog! I’m watching my back, just in case….

      Love and licks,
      C

  18. That’s a great idea! Why didn’t we ever think of that when painters were here??

    • Thanks, Pix! Maybe your painters weren’t trying to kill you. And maybe you weren’t trying to kill them! And maybe you weren’t planning to stick your tail into the paint and help.

      Love and licks,
      C

Hello you darling new friend. I have loved meowing at you this past several months. xxoo

  20. It sounds like some very colorful changes going on in your home space lead you to adventures that you may not have thought of having before. Good for you.

    • Thanks, DD. The paints are the same colors, but the furniture is moving around! And some of it is disappearing! Gah!

      Love and licks,
      C

  21. Mom says there is a saying “change is better than a holiday”…she says she isn’t fully convinced butt that it’s worth a try.
    Wally & Sammy

  22. You sure move around πŸ™‚ It must help to find inspiration in all the different spots and hopefully that inspiration doesn’t come from a vet visit!

    • You’re right, K. There is no inspiration at the vet. Luckily they have cookies and cuddles to make up for it.

      Love and licks,
      C

  23. OMC Cupcake..was that inclusive room-service πŸ˜€ Pawkisses πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Mom would not call down to room service for me, Little B. But she brought some of my favorite treats for me to have. I wanted a burger and fries…..

      Love and licks,
      C

  24. Oh how fun! Like a mini working-vacation!

    Monty and Harlow

    • Thanks, M and H. Mom was really only working in her head. Mostly, we relaxed and watched TV. But I had her all to myself, so that was good….

      Love and licks,
      C

  25. Hope you trip helped create lots of new ideas

    • Thanks, M. It did. Mom needed to think of 30 new ideas in 30 days, and she did. She has exactly 30 in her list. Challenge – met.

      Love and licks,
      C

  26. Hi Cupcake! What an awesome blog this is! You are so pretty and smart. I have a dog Charley and she says hello to you! We look forward to follow your blog. And btw, your mom Genevieve is a very talented writer and artist! With love from Johanna and Charley.

  27. Sometimes it’s just doing something different to take your mind off the task and then the juices just flow. Good luck mom~

  28. I definitely adore your photo on the bed, with that pink tongue out! πŸ™‚

  29. OH Cupcake!!! You have your mama wrapped!!!!

  30. You are the cutest, whatever scenery you are in πŸ˜‰

  31. That pet-friendly hotel looks very elegant and comfy but the management seems to be rather substandard. They didn’t realize that they have a Very Special Guest who is a renowned personality all over the world! They could have doubled or tripled or hundredded the number of guests by making a campaign with the cutest pics featuring you in their rooms!

  32. […] In the car, we are usually prepared with some coffee. […]

  33. […] I still have trouble figuring out how to work my blanket bed, […]
