Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

Unthinkable!

This is incredible! Unbelievable! Mind-boggling! Unthinkable! Inconceivable! It’s… it’s…. it’s… Summer School times TWO!

Mom is smack in the middle of Kidlit Summer School

and all of a sudden on August 1st Lyrical Language Lab started up.

Do you see what’s happening here? She’s studying TWO summer schools at once! Reading stories, writing stories, reading poems, writing poems. It’s out of control!

You’re probably wondering what I’m doing while all this reading and writing and writing and reading is going on. Nuthin’ that’s what.

I just wait…

and wait…

and wait.

For a whole HOUR – which feels like 2 hours or 8 hours or 67 hours. Ugh! Thank goodness Mom still sets the clock for her writing time, so when her iPad chimes, she can play with me again.

Anybody want to throw the squeaky corn on the cob toy? Anybody...?

Anybody want to throw the squeaky corn on the cob toy? Anybody…?

After what seems like 975 hours, we finally get to walk around outside, go to the park…

and on Saturday (AFTER summer school), we even went to work at the Veteran’s Home so I could see all my old soldier friends and make them smile.

Mom says, “I’m learning a lot.” and “School is fun.” and I say, “When the heck is summer VACATION!!??”

  1. Yeesh Cupcake, your mom is really cramming it in this Summer. Butt at least she is making time for you!
    Wally & Sammy

  2. You no helping da writing? We always helping when mom working at home!

    • I do try to help, S. And J. I bring toys and stare and sometimes, I fly out of nowhere and land on Mom’s lap. She says the word, “not now” and “not yet” and “OUCH!” I don’t get it….

      Love and licks,
      C

Cupcake your mom surely does fill her hours FULL of busy stuffs. Good that the TIMER worked and she made TIME fur YOU and the Veterans and PLAY !!

  4. Poor Cupcake. If I was closer, you could come over and hang out with me. Perhaps I can teach you how to run the clock up on her iPad so she thinks she’s working an hour but really only 30 minutes? Smile :O winks and oinks. XOXO – Bacon

  5. Somehow you have to convince your mom that you are here summer school and that she’ll learn the most by playing with you.

  6. You pack your bags and come play with me for a bit until your mums done with her packing!!

  7. OMC (Oh My Cupcake) that waiting looks like a lifetime, but, thank Cat, she still has time for you after it 😀 Pawkisses…and now where do I have to throw that corn thingie you said…?

  8. oh waiting is annoying… maybe she can read her stories and poems to you first, so you are included in the writing process?

  9. Cupcake, sometimes we have to be so patient! It sounds like you’re still having some fun though. I’m sure she’ll make it up to you when she’s less busy. Enjoy your naps!

  10. Poor Cupcake…..if I was there I’d throw that squeaky corn for you any time you want! Waiting is just awful isn’t it? Your Mom is very busy though and at least she limits herself on writing/reading time and makes sure YOU get time too!!! Gotta give her credit for that. I bet those veterans love seeing you when you visit them Cupcake – that’s such a wonderful thing for you and your Mom to do. They get to see you in all your cute little dresses and outfits……you’re the best dressed cutie in town!

    Love and Hugs, Sammy

    • Awwww… Thanks, S. The old veterans did make a lot of smiles for me when they saw me. At one point, there were 4 or 5 people petting me at one time. Fun!

      Love and licks,
      C

  11. LOL! How cute! Lil Hallie shares your waiting woes… but think of all the stuff you are soaking up Cupcake! 🙂

I with you let mom do all the work our job is to just look cute Woof

  13. Poor Cupcake! Such a hard life for a little dog. 🙂

  14. But Cupcake you look so dang darling while you wait! All those pictures of you waiting, you have the sweetest waiting face! I bet you made your old soldier friends smile 🙂

  15. You’re so good to be waiting while your Mummy is so busy. Purhaps you could swap roles? Your Mum can have an hours snooze while you take the Summer school, tehe!
    The Pigs xx

  16. Cupcake…what a shame you have the summer stuffs to go have fun and Mum is busy….lucky indeed when mum’s time’s up (which sounds wrong!) you are ready to spring into action…corn cob and all 😉 hugs and loves Fozziemum xx

Cupcake – We want to know when summer vacation happens, too! Your Mom is super busy – we know it is hard to wait for her. We hope you enjoyed your walk! 🙂

    • Thanks, S. And K. Once Mom gets finished, the fun begins. Even if the fun is just walking down to take out the garbage! It doesn’t take much to make me happy.

      Love and licks,
      C

  18. 975 hours is a long time to wait for a walk, you are quite stoic and not the least prone to exaggeration. Two Summer schools at once sounds like it could be the premise for the next book.

  19. Oh Cupcake,I had better get in my magic Closet and Pay you a visit,xx Speedy

  20. Sweet dreams while you wait, Cupcake! And dreams of sweet ideas to your mom as she double studies!

  21. Cupcake, you are so patient while your ambitious mom works and works!

    • Thanks, K. I had a lot of practice when I was waiting for Mom to find me at the rescue event. Trust me – this waiting is easier than that one!

      Love and licks,
      C

  22. Your Mom is learning a lot, and you are learning a LOT of patience if nothing else sweet Cupcake! Love the photos today! Can never get enough Cupcake photos ever!

  23. Poor, poor, pitiful Cupcake. Don’t you just hate it when the humans get their priorities all messed up and we end up waiting for them to finish doing whatever silly human thing they’re doing so they can finally pay attention to us? Look at the bright side: she may start to feel guilty and that could mean extra treats for you. Hang in there!

  24. One hour! That’s not so bad…Fuzzy and I had to wait for EVER while Mom worked with Dad in the hay. It was FOREVER and it was hot!

Hey, can we trade…just for one day! You could be outside all the time and Fuzz and I could lay around waiting for your Mom!

  25. Way too cute, Cupcake! Maybe that’s why I keep finding Archie sleeping under my bed when I’m working. He’s pouting and not happy with me.

  26. Mom and. Had a long conversation about this yesterday and I still say she’s amazing! And you’re right to be impatient, but hang in. She loves you to death!

All work and very little play makes for a dull and bored Cupcake. I feel your pain. Love how you “pose” for your pics with your props!

  29. OMG, Cupcake, I didn’t know that summer school is an infectious disease! I’m afraid there is only cure of it: you should put your mom into a swing so that the things in her brainbox get shaken back into their right place.
I hope you are immune to this malady and it won’t occupy your slim but extremely cute head!

  30. Oh Cupcake, I’m so sorry you haven’t had much of a summer vacation. 😦 But I know you want your mom to feel happy so she’s fun to be around and it sounds like all this school makes her happy. Cooper paws at me when he’s decided I’ve had enough time at the computer (I’m not as wise as your mom and forget to put on a timer). When he paws me we go outside to play.
I’m glad you got to see all your soldier friends! hugs, Meghan

    • Thanks, M. Cooper has a built-in timer inside his head. He will take care of you so you don’t stay on the computer for too long. Good work, buddy.

      Love and licks,
      C

  31. I feel for you cupcake, wish I was there imagine all the fun we’d have together!

  32. Oh sweet Cupcake, you deserve so much better…and yet…your Mom does give up most of her closet space so you can have all your outfits organized by holiday, color, fabric…maybe you ought to bring her slippers like once every other year…ya know…just to make her feel wanted?? na’ mean???

    • Ha! That’s no joke, S. My clothes do take up HALF of her coat closet! I stink at fetching, so Mom is going to have to be on her own with the slippers….

      Love and licks,
      C
