Living with a children's author isn't as easy as it looks!

It’s 2013. So today’s brand new 5 words are about the brand new things Mom and I will be doing in this brand new year.

1. I will learn to bowl. I knew how to bowl last year, but now that I have a set of bowling pins, I forgot what to do with them. Mom is teaching me all over again from square one.

2. Mom is participating in the 12×12Β writing challenge. She participated in it last year, too, but now it’s not called 12x12in’12. It’s called 12×12. This means Mom will write 12 new stories again this year. She started in January at square one.Β

3. Mom will enter The Highlights Annual Fiction Contest. She entered last year, too, but she didn’t win. She wanted to win – or to lose and have them buy her story anyway. But nothing. She’s back to square one.

4. Mom will work with her writing group named DavidLaurieAndOtherDavid. She worked with them last year, but her stories always need help, so she’ll be talking about her stories and their stories all over again from square one.

5. I will be a perfectly good girl.

This will help Mom to do her writing work so she can get Book #2 accepted in lucky 2013. Being a good girl will be brand new for me. Book #2 will be brand new for her.
Brand new things for a brand new year.

  7. Well you and your Mom have lots to do in 2013 Cupcake but I’m SURE both of you will succeed! I love your pink coat… look very girlie in it while you romp in the snow! As for #5 and being perfectly good – – – – THAT should be EASY – right???

    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

  8. Admirable goals, Cupcake! I wish you and your mom much success with all of them! Although I must say, you look so perfect all the time, I can’t see that you have much work to do there πŸ™‚ LOVE your pink coat πŸ™‚

  9. Bowling sounds fun, looking forward to hearing more!

  10. What admirable goals, Cupcake (and Mom). Going back to square one isn’t always easy, but sadly, for most of us, quite necessary. Best of luck in lucky ’13!

  11. That sounds exciting! Lots of good things planned and always interesting to learn about the writing ideas.

    Oink oink,
Katie and Coccolino the mini pig

  12. So sweet πŸ™‚

  13. I’ll bet you are always a perfectly good girl ;o) Bowling sounds great… should I try it too?

  14. Cupcake, it’s so difficult for me to imagine you being anything other than a good girl. I’m so glad to have your mom back in 12 x 12. And I’m going to submit to the Highlights Fiction Contest also. I, too, want to be a good girl this year. So we have some similar goals. πŸ˜‰

    • Good luck with your good girl behavior, Julie. Being good is tricky sometimes. Mom says I’m a good girl on the chair when she wants to take my picture, but when I accidentally get on the chair and eat a piece of toast, I’m suddenly naughty! Huh??

      Love and licks,

  15. Will and Eko said:

Good luck across the board, can’t wait to see you bowl! Maybe there is a story there??

  16. You guys have some very exciting plans! I am pretty excited to see you bowl, Cupcake! And I really hope your mom will win the Highlights contest! The last thing is kind of an easy one; of course you will be perfectly good πŸ™‚

  17. That sounds like a busy year ahead – I hope it all goes well.
I’m a bit jealous about the snow!

  18. That bowling thing is tricky, because the bowling pins don’t look the same as the empty plastic bottles you learned on. But it works pretty much the same, so I’m sure you can do it, Cupcake!

Good luck to you and your Mom with all your goals!

  19. Brand new. Like a brand new shiney penny. Lucky penny πŸ˜‰

  20. Hiya Cupcake, I have not been here before…my misfortune (VBP)..your blog is so, well…ummm…challenging…and pawsome…and amazing…and…well…I have missed lots…hope I can catch up…paw pats Savannah

  21. Best wishes on getting book #2 accepted along with all your other goals!

  24. Good luck Cupcake! I want some strikes! πŸ˜€

  25. Those all sound like admirable goals. Now, I’m kind of sorry I didn’t make any.

  26. We know you will live up to those goals. However, we can never imagine you being bad Cupcake!!! You are an Angel!!!
    God Bless You!
    the collies and chuck πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Chuck and Collies! I’m never sure what good really means. When I eat my dinner, Mom says I’m a good girl. When I try to eat her dinner, she says I’m naughty. Confusing, right?

      Love and licks,

  27. Good to hear that your mom is still working with the writing group named DavidLaurieAndOtherDavid. It always make me smile when I see that πŸ™‚ Good luck with all of your plans xx

  28. I thought you always were a perfectly good girl Cupcake πŸ™‚
Good luck to your Mom and best wishes for 2013

  29. Wishing you and your momma lots of good luck in the future’s writing endeavors!

  30. It’s hard being good so our people can write. But if you really want your mom’s attention Cupcake, just start jumping up and down next to her when she’s on the computer. That’s what I do.

  31. I don’t get it. I thought you already were perfectly good.

  32. Dearest Cupcake,

Whee are not sure if you have heard but there is a ball over at Mollie’s ( Would you do me the honour of being my partner?

  33. Mom will have a busy year, so we are sure you have some plans up your sleeve.

  34. Good job Cupcake… So smart of you.

  35. […] Mom joined a new online writing critique group. There’s a bunch of smarty, creative, friendly, and helpful people who will talk with Mom […]
