Mom and I were pretty lucky. Hurricane Sandy took away the power and hot water at our house, and knocked down a couple of trees on our street, but we were fine and our home was not damaged at all.
I had to wear my sweater and stay under my blanket because of no heat, and we had to go to bed early with flashlights because of no light.
Mom said I was a brave little soldier the whole time. (Plus, I think I looked adorable in my sweater.) Many of our friends had a lot worse trouble than we did, and we hope and pray they’re doing fine.
Through it all, even though we couldn’t write on our blog, or look at anybody else’s blog, Mom got started on PiBoIdMo, all on her own, right on schedule. There are still mostly numbers on her Iconic Notes page, of course, but the first five numbers are filled in with five brand new ideas.
So here’s to a wonderful new month filled with ideas and opportunities and productivity and success and no more charging the phone in the car…
and no more gas lines….
and no more scary wind that sounds like a baby screaming. And no more Hurricane Sandy!

Oh, Cupcake and mom, I’m so happy you’re allright!
Wow, a little soldier, that’s quite an honor, but I think you now deserve a promotion as General-without-fear 🙂
Thanks, AW! I AM a little General. That’s the guy in charge, right? Yup. That’s me!
Love and licks,
C
So glad you made it through Sandy alright. Must have been terrible to be without power and heat so I’m really glad you had a warm jacket to wear. So good to have you back on line and I hope things return to normal very, very quickly.
Thanks, Long Life! It was uncomfortable for us, but the whole time, we knew that so many people were a LOT worse off. Mom listened to it on the radio, (after I stopped being afraid of that weird talking-thing). It let us know were pretty well-off, all things considered.
Love and licks,
C
We are so pleased you and your family are all OK.. going without heating and lights must of been awful, we take things for granted until they are not there. We flick a light on, without a second thought, now, we will be thankful.( even though, they charge us a fortune for the privalage..lol ) You were so brave Cupcake 🙂 So glad to have you guys back xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
Thanks, Mollie! We did our best, but lots of people and pets are being way braver than we were. Some houses disappeared into the ocean or got wrecked up even worse than when I lose my mind playing with my toys. We are sad for them at the same time we are relieved that our neighborhood is safe. BTW – Your comment DID go into spam like your two-email-mom expected. But we found it and rescued it. xo

Hi Cupcake! I’m so happy you and your Mom made it through the Sandy-mess together alright. You look quite cute all cuddled up in your sweater and blankie. I bet you hated the storm more than that awful, scary pumpkin your neighbor does every Halloween for the hallway!
Kitty Hugs, Sammy
That’s one good thing about the storm, Sammy. In all the mess and scariness, the pumpkin freak-head never made an appearance. Whew! There was enough for me to worry about without that thing showing up across the hall.
Love and licks,
C
I’m glad you’re okay. You do look cute in your sweater.
Thanks, Clowie! Cute was a good look for the storm.
Love and licks,
C
So glad you and your mom are OK! I was worrying about you! And you look warm and patriotic in your cozy blanket 🙂
Thanks for worrying about us, Susanna. Turns out we are tougher than we look.
Love and licks,
C
Glad to hear you are safe and sound cuppycake. You look so cute all cuddled up:-)
Thanks, Misaki! Cuddling up is my specialty!

I’m so glad your got all your ‘stuff’ back and that your have jumped back into the loop. Life was boring without you. 🙂
Thanks, Gemma! It was boring without you, too! We like being loopy. That’s a good thing…. Right??
Love and licks,
C
I’m so glad to hear you are well and your house survived this bad Sandy-beast. I hope all things are in a row soon and for the rest of the year you may have only lucky and funny days.
Thanks, E. Things are pretty much “in a row” now. Even the refrigerator, which was dark and empty when the power was off is sparkling clean and filled with brand new foods. As long as we have you, we will never have a shortage of funny days. You always make us crack up.
Love and licks,
C
Nice to know you guys are sound and safe. Things will get back on track soon.
Thanks, Doggy! We’re on track, and getting ready to donate some $$$ to Red Cross for the people who still have a long way to go.
Love and licks,
C
Oh Cupcake! So glad to know you and Mom are safe and that all is getting back to normal. You are such a brave little sweetie.
Thanks, Robin! Being a sweetie is what I do best. I was very cute and adorable the whole time. It’s my job.
Love and licks,
C
I’m glad you got through things okay. Duke did the sweater and blanket thing with me, too. 🙂
I figured Duke would take good care of you ABB. Cuddling with blankets is a good strategy.

I’m glad you and Mom are okay, Cupcake! And congrats on Moms new PB ideas?

Thanks, Donna. Mom is liking this PiBoIdMo thing a lot. She feels hopeful about her ideas, especially when she reads PiBo success stories. Hope you’re doing OK. Cuddle with Tommy if things get scary.

So glad you and Mom are doing okay and had little damage. Looks like Mom took good care of you and herself.
Thanks, Patricia! Mom and I always take care of each other. She does most of the work on that, but I am cute the whole time.
Love and licks,
C
The Two Orange Pups and I are so happy that you bravely defeated Surly Sandy – and looking so chic as you did so, we must add. We’re also very impressed that Mom was able to focus on PB ideas for PiBoIdMo!
Thanks, Patricia! Sometimes when you’re cold or scared, looking chic helps. Well, maybe it doesn’t actually help, but it looks cute.
Love and licks,
C
Brave, cute, stoic – you are a hero! Glad you guys are safe.
Thanks, Will and Eko! I was more cute than brave, but I did my best.
Love and licks,
C
Thank goodness you are okay, have been thinking of you both over the last few days. I hope the damage isnt too bad where you are, keep strong. So lovely to hear from you again :)) xx
Thanks, Hamsters! My neighborhood is not damaged a lot at all. The tree guys already came and cleaned up all the busted trees that fell into the street. I was brave when they cut them up with chain saws and threw them into the wood eating monster that they parked on my block. I shivered a little, but I didn’t hide.
Love and licks,
C
So thankful to hear! It seems to have caused so many problems over there, its great to hear that your neighbourhood has been dealt with so promptly, back to normality eh 😛 Your super duper brave! I wish I could be as brave as you in such tricky situations 🙂 xxxx
Cupcake, you were brave! I think you should be promoted to General of all the bravest people and animals (or would you rather be president) 😉
Yes, Erik! I do want to be president. I would like to be elected tomorrow. My platform would be bacon and treats for everyone! Yay!
Love and licks,
C
Howay!!!!! We are so thankful you are safe and sound. We checked everyday to see if you were back and we worried about you and all our east coast friends. The collies send their love and a big hug from dad who smiled happily al day seeing you were okay!
Praise be to God!
the cheering collies and Chuck
Thanks for checking on us, Collies and Chuck! xoxo We are happy and blessed to be safe and sound, but we are still worried about the people who did a lot worse than us. We will say prayers for them every day, so they can get back to normal like we did.
Love and licks,
C
Oh cupcake you look like you took on that nasty storm yourself, standing so vaiantly infront of that fallen tree, doinga hero pose. Such a cutie!!!:)
Thanks, Kirby! I WAS valiant and heroic! I’m glad you noticed. Snuggling on the couch in my pink sweater is something like valiant and heroic…. Um… Isn’t it???
Love and licks,
C
for sure it is!!!! 🙂
🙂
So happy you are all okay.
Thanks, Quirky! We’re still praying and sending happy thoughts to the many people who had it MUCH worse than Mom and me. We’re definitely the lucky ones.
Love and licks,
C
Our thoughts and piggie wheeks are with everyone. Snuggles, Daisy, Cinnamon, Peaches and mummy.xxxxx
Hooray for outlasting Sandy. Good for you!
Thanks, WIM2S! We were scared but safe. Lucky.
Love and licks,

We are so glad you are okay! It was quite a storm. We didn’t lose power but did lose some trees. *hugs*
