If you’re a writer, one of three things is going to happen: you quit, you die, or you get published.
~Steve Bein~
This is true. Mom is definitely a writer. She gets something published every now and then. Plus she quits every day. Sometimes more than once a day. When she’s working on a story, and her timer goes off, she says, “Time’s up. I quit.” When she’s trying to revise a story to make it shorter or longer or tighter, she says, “I don’t know what else to do here! I quit.” When she tries to make me roll over for a treat, she presses me down to the floor, pulls my legs, twists my head, and pushes my belly. Then she says, “Are you made of stone? Ugh. I quit.”
Mom says, “2012 is The Year of Book #2.” She has 2 New Years Resolutions to help her make Book #2 happen. She is planning to read 212 picture books, so they will all be inside her head. She will also write a brand new picture book manuscript every month for a game called #12x12in2012.
I hope this works and something new gets published. Otherwise, we may have to practice rolling over….
…or worse yet – fetching. UGH! I quit!

Love the quote! I think that my family can certainly relate. My dog can too! In fact, he is right now sitting on my lap trying to prevent me from sending this comment! Best of luck with all of your manuscripts!
Sandi, if your dog is on your lap while you’re typing, take the hint! He wants to be a blogger, like me! Get him an iPad and get out of the way!

This is a perfect quote! It is going up on my wall right now *writes quote on wall with purple magic marker* My dogs should start blogging with Cupcake – they would have a lot to talk about 🙂
Keep your eye on her, Cupcake!
(Best of everything in your writing, Cupcake’s human!)
Thanks for the encouraging words, Beth and Debbie. So far, Mom’s 2012 goals are rolling along. Speaking of rolling, I wonder where my purple ball is….
Love & licks,

Great quote! Cute dog. Awesome goals!
That cupcake is adorable! So glad I’m following him. 🙂
Welcome, Julie! I love followers, especially if they say I’m adorable. That’s exactly the look I was going for!
Love and cuteness,
Cupcake
From what I hear, writers read. A lot! So your mom is off to a good start. Or should I say the journey continues. Stand behind your mom, girlfriend. Good dog.
I do stand behind Mom, Gemma! I learned it in dog school, along with no pulling, no zig-zagging, and no eating the rent bill when they stick it under the door.
Love & obedience,
Cupcake
Cupcake, fetching is good. That’s probably why me person isn’t writing any books, because I don’t quit.
I think I will like fetching if I can ever figure out how it works. Apparently it isn’t grabbing the ball and jumping on the couch with it. My head hurts when I try to understand.
Love & confusion,
Cupcake
I wish your mom every success! Let’s hope that “2012 is The Year of Book #2.”
Thanks for the good wishes, Bassa!
Love & good karma,
Cupcake
Wondrful quote! And that little dog is so cute! 🙂
I can’t get my border collie to roll over either.
Thanks, Rebecca! Cute is the look I was going for. Mom says my brain is too tiny to learn a lot of tricks. What I lack in brains, I make up for in cuteness!
Love & licks,
Cupcake
