Five Word Friday

Today’s 5 words are about rest.

1. Couch-Nap – I like a good couch-nap. When Mom leaves me alone, the couch is my napping area of choice. Also the floor, my bed, the rocking chair,

couchnap

and the butterfly rug in the bathroom.

2. Street-Nap – In the summer the asphalt in my neighborhood gets blazing hot. Those are the perfect days for a street-nap. I lie on my belly and my side and sometimes I flip over and squiggle around like a wiggly worm.

Aaahhhh…

3. Laziness – Mom has been kind of lazy lately. She hasn’t been sitting at her computer and talking to herself! That means no writing in a few days. I thought she was a “full-time” writer. This week, she’s been a writer at rest.

Z-z-z-z-z-...

Z-z-z-z-z-…

4. Excuses – She makes excuses like, “I have an appointment.” and “I’m swamped. It’s a super-busy day.” and “How can I write if you drink all my coffee?” I can make excuses, too. “You left your cup right where I can reach it.”

drinking

and “I couldn’t decide which toy to play with.”

and “I was lonely eating in the kitchen by myself.”

5. Back-on-the-horse – Yesterday, Mom sat at her computer and said she was getting back on the horse. I have never seen a horse. Mom saw one in Manhattan and showed me the picture. It looked like a big dog. A really, really, REALLY big dog. I hope she doesn’t love that big guy more than she loves me.

Woof!

    Mollie and Alfie

  2. So funny, Cupcake! Zip zip zip to and fro! Can I have some of your energy? ;)

  3. hahaha Cupcake it was a pleasure to watch your videos! I bet now your mom has many good ideas for new stories and her winged horse will gallop like the wind. Hi-yo Silver! have a wonderful friday and please be careful while taking a nap on the street.

    • W-w-w-winged horse! *gulp* I’m pretty sure I’m afraid of a winged horse, so I hope it doesn’t fly near me. Mom usually drags me into the gutter when a car comes, so I am safe during my street naps.

      Love and licks,
      C

  4. WOL! Street naps are pawesome! WOoooooowooooooo!

  5. So cute, cupcake. I love how you carry your bowl around <3

  6. Ha, this is the second post on my reader about napping. I think you guys are sending me a sign for how to recover from my trip. Time to hit the couch with my dog-pillow, Eko. Hope we can reach your expert level napping skills.

  7. Heheh, those look like some pretty cool places to sleep Cupcake! Whee pigs love to find comfy, warm places and whee reckon you have the art pretty well wrapped up.
    The Pigs xx

  8. Your videos made me chuckle. Plus-cute!!
I can’t believe mom was not writing! Get out of the city!!! You need to get on board and keep her in line. If that means no coffee for you and more for her, so be it! Sacrifice if you must, for love of mom. (Hmmmmm)
Anyway, horses. They are an awesome sight and you’d probably poo your drawers if you stood up next to one but they are cool. Not as cool as dogs though. I heard just yesterday that long ago when firetrucks were pulled by horses, dalmatians used to run alongside of them to keep them moving because the fires used to scare the horses. Now. Who is more brave? The horse or the dog? Think about it. ;-)
    Hugs and more hugs…

    • Thanks, G. I have spots like a Dalmatian, so maybe I would be brave near a horse…. Nah. That’s crazy-talk. You’re right. I’d be petrified. You know more about the “love of mom” than anybody these days, so I I’ll take your advice and try not to steal Mom’s coffee. But I can’t make any promises if she has cookies.

      Love and licks,
      C

  9. Cupcake is too adorable for words. Good luck with the writing, Genevieve! I’ve been having a slow week too. Ugh! :(

  10. HEY! Be real careful around those HUGE DOGS…horses have really wicked swings and kicks with those big hooves….I found out the hard way,

    Boomer

    • GAH, Boomer! That is one theory I do NOT want to check for myself. Big hooves do not sound like fun at all. I like tiny paws better.

      Love and licks,
      C

  11. OMP (oh my pig). You are great Cupcake! Can you believe some people call me a horse? Snorts. XOXO – Bacon

  12. I am not allowed on the Furrniture but I have great pillows and binkies all over the house. Right now I am on the porch on Old cissy pillow.. I guess who gets there first.

    • Good, quick action bogarting the Cissy pillow, F. You’re lucky. I try to keep knocking pillows onto the floor, but Mom picks them up.

      Love and licks,
      C

  13. Oh Cupcake, there’s no way your Mom could love ANYBODY or ANYTHING as much as she loves you – especially not that great big dog-horse thing (which is scary!). As for naps – you know me – I’m a napper from way back. I’ve perfected my technique all these years. See you tomorrow at the pawty!

    Hugs, Sammy

  14. Whee just love that pigture of you sleeping. Super duper cute!

    Nacho, Noah, Buddy & Basil

  16. Oh, I can see are such a contented and loved little furry Cupcake. I love watching the videos and see you play and run around. Simba and I love our naps as well and you must tell mom the laziness is okay for a while. hahahahaah. I see you love your coffee as well. Simba does too. He shares his with me in the mornings.

Great post and videos. I truly enjoyed. :D ♥ Big Hugs ♥

    • Thanks, S. Mom is back on the horse *shiver* now. Also, after watching the video, she says she’s switching me to decaf. I wish I could play with Simba. I would jump on his head.

      Love and licks,
      Cupcake

      • Tell mom she must watch out. Horses run fast. LOL!
Oh dear me! hahahah. Let’s hope she forgets. hehehehe

hahahahaha! I think Simba would enjoy that. LOL!

        ♥ Hugs and kisses ♥

  17. You look super cute carrying your bowl of food. And it’s very clever to carry it without spilling it!
You can bounce around like a cat in that first video! If I did that the furniture would fly!

  18. Oh Cupcake those videos are adorable!!! and I was close to tears at the sadness of a little gal bringing her dinner in to be with mum …..really pulls at the heart strings…you got it all Cupcake….pretty sure mum loves you best !!! hugs Fozziemum xx

  19. Oh, Cupcake, I’m just captivated by your manifold talents! And by the grace while sleeping! And your speed when jumping and running! And your bowl-transporting skills! And your permanent cuteness!

  20. Cupcake you got your ZOOM on! I really like how you relocated your dinner too without spilling. Grandma’s Molly liked coffee too. 5 word Friday had great pics too! Tell your mom happy Mom’s day from all of us!
    Marty

    • Thanks, M. Sometimes my luck doesn’t hold out, and I flip my bowl upside down on the floor or the rug. But no worries. I clean it all up good as new!

      Love and licks,
      C

  21. Resting is very important and you do it well. It’s Mother’s Day week, your Mom deserves a rest this week, but not sure what excuse will work next week – mid May?

  22. What? Love someone more than you? I doubt it! woo woo!

  23. Napping is a real skill that needs to be perfected with lots of practice. Watch out for that horse! No telling where it will take your Mom!!

  24. Lol cupcake look at you go!!!!

  25. Liked your list. Great video. Sorry I haven’t been around much, but have been on vacation for two weeks. Back in the saddle.

  26. Good for your mom for getting back on the horse. I’d say she should get back on the pig next time and I’ll take her for a squealing ride of invigorating delight that will provide for some great material and no chance for laziness or excuses. Wait, who am I kidding? I’d just squeal away in horror and go bury down in my own lazy excuses covered in blankets :-)

    • I for one am dying to ride a pig. Wait, who am I kidding? I’d be terrified! There aren’t enough blankets in the world for me to hide in. We’d be quite a pair, C.

      Love and licks,
      Cupcake

  27. YOU are so adorable Cupcake!! I love the way you write and I love the shower curtain and rug in your bathroom. :-)

  28. What a great post –
must be time for me to have a rest now!!
    Emma :-)

  30. Wow, what an energy, Cupcake. Love to see you running from one couch to another, with so much spirit. And bringing your bowl to eat with you Mom…well, that was quite endearing. Now, let’s try to get that big dog to purr ;) Pawkiss :)

  31. Hehehehe Cupcake you’re a nap surfer!cool!xx Speedy
